Vanderbilt MSN 2018

Published

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Vanderbilt MSN Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!

Did anyone who applied by the Nov. 1st deadline get an email saying your application will be considered on a rolling basis? I even have a confirmation email from the school that they received my application by November 1st so I am a little confused and also worried. :(

I would e-mail or call them real quick just to double check. They are generally very friendly and helpful.

Did anyone who applied to psych get an email?

I haven't - have you?

Does it specifically say in the email whether or not you are based on early action or rolling basis?

I applied to psych and haven't received any correspondence.

It says, "your fall application is complete and will be considered as part of our rolling admissions process".

Do you know the exact date you submitted your application? Was it close to the Nov 1st deadline? The reason I ask is because Vandy has advised students in the past to submit their applications as early as possible because the nursing program is so popular the applicant slots might already be full even before we reach the Nov 1st deadline which would automatically put the applicant on rolling admission and in the second batch of applicants to be reviewed for admission.

That being said, previous threads have mentioned that individuals who have submitted applications after Nov 1st have still gotten an interview and did get admitted into the school. The difference is their applications are reviewed later depending on how late after the Nov 1st deadline it was received.

Since you still applied before the Nov 1st deadline you should still have a very good chance of being reviewed, you just might not have made it into the initial review based on what you have posted. This is all conjecture on my part based on what I have read and understand how the admissions and program is structured at Vandy as a caveat.

Did you contact Vandy and ask them why you were given rolling admission instead of going straight to faculty review as part of the initial batch of applicants?

Hi new joiners!

For those that just joined this thread, there is a a lot of information on the previous pages about the admissions process and the timelines, if you have the time scroll through the pages to get some answers to your questions.

I mentioned Psych in my previous posts, but in summary Psych is generally one of the specialties that is interviewed by faculty. Last year Psych invitations didn't happen until the end of Dec so for those waiting for invites, you most likely have a few more weeks of waiting. I know it probably doesn't help since we want to see some progress on our applications but at least the Psych applicants have a timeline to work with based upon precedent.

I am still waiting to hear whether I will receive an invitation to interview for the CNM/FNP specialty so I am right there waiting with everyone else as well.

Good luck with everyone's interviews!

Thank you for all the information you provided, TangoDeux. Very helpful! I submitted right on November 1st; one of my recommenders was unable to submit her letter prior because she was out of the country. I was under the impression that if we submitted prior to, or on Nov. 1st we would still be considered early action. I haven't spoken to them yet. I tried to call earlier but I think they were closed for the day. I'll try again tomorrow and update for those who may be in a similar situation.

That really sucks- I think if the recommendation came late then that might be why unfortunately. I think they wanted everything by Nov 1.

I checked with Vandy and they had wanted everything before Nov 1 :(
