Vanderbilt MSN 2018

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Vanderbilt MSN Fall 2018. Anyone else applying too? Please comment!

Shout out to @TangoDeux - did an amaaazing job of clarifying and helping! Go to page 9 for their comments. I am an AGACNP applicant so it was very helpful to learn that not all the specialities will get interviews. There's hope yet! Congrats to those have been invited to interview though :)

Thanks @biologyonthebrain! Good luck with your application. The interview cycle has only just begun so I wouldn't worry if you haven't heard anything yet. Like I said in my post, Vandy nursing has had some serious growth these last two years so there is a high volume of applications that they need to process so things will take time from an administrative stand point.

I just received an email that my application is now under faculty review - did anybody else receive the email? I applied to FNP

I received this as well this morning, NM/FNP tract!

I also received the timeline email. I called to confirm that my application was considered "Early Action" (Nov. 1st) and they said yes, this email is to notify all "Early Action" applicants that the applications have completed the admissions office preliminary review and are now with the faculty reviewers. She said a separate email went to those that missed the "Early Action" date and that email states that their application will be reviewed during "rolling admissions". She said the email was to clarify information about interviews and when a decision would be received.

Was it nerve wrecking for anyone else to see an email from them?

Do you think that acute care will revive intwrvjews this year? Because in the email it didn't say- our speciality may not receive details about interviews

I got the email as well! I applied for WHNP/AGPCNP. Definitely nerve wracking to get emails from programs...

I got an e-mail about the applications and how they are being reviewed too. I am surprised and pleased that they will communicate final decision by e-mail and not by mail.

Does anyone know what the admissions place the most emphasis on? Do they place the most emphasis on your GPA, pervious healthcare experience, or your GRE score?

This is an interesting question. From my perspective, I think they place the most emphasis on your personal statement. I don't have the most amazing GPA or GRE scores, but still managed to get an interview. I do have some healthcare experience though, which I think is another important factor.

I don't think it's any one thing, though. If you have a stellar GPA and amazing GRE scores, I bet the healthcare experience and personal statement is less important.

I'm curious to hear other perspectives!
