I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.
Hi GR:
There is a waitlist and anyone can be called for a last minute acceptance for those who may vacate their spots at last moment's notice. Its really hard to say whether you will have a good chance regardless of when you apply because you are most likely being compared against other candidates every time a spot opens up. Thus a waitlist short or long does not secure a spot. I wouldn't say it is futile applying this late but I also wouldn't hold your breath.
I set up a Vanderbilt MSN 2017 forum as I had expected to be applying again next year. I was accepted into the CNM program off the waitlist and my application was finalized February 4th of this year.
It might be worth your while reaching out and contacting and admissions advisor at this point.
Best of luck to you and good luck as you figure out your next steps!
I applied late (like last month) because I needed my spring grades from my Rn to BSN program to be on my transcript to improve my GPA. I just found out today that I was wait listed. I am not in the Nashville area so clinical sites won't be an issue. Has anyone been wait listed for FNP and ended up getting a spot?
I got a wait list letter for the FNP program. My application was not complete until the end of June. I spoke with the counselor and was told there are several acceptance letters that just Went out and if those students don't accept they would look at the wait list. She said there weren't many in the wait list. Keeping my fingers crossed
Pre-specialty spots are already full. They told us that at the Open House in February. They said there were few to no slots for direct-entry local students and that distance direct-entry students had the best chance because those students could find their own clinical sites. Local clinical sites are very limited.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this, but I'm interested in applying to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty MSN program for non-nurses. I realize it's really, really late in the admissions cycle at this point, but is there any hope of getting accepted to one of the specialty tracks (especially FNP) at this point? I understand that someone a few posts up mentioned that all the specialty tracks were full, but is there any sort of waitlist that applicants are accepted from?
Thanks
