  1. I was accepted to Case Western Reserve, Emory, JHU, and Columbia. Once I had those 4 acceptances, in my mind it was between Columbia and JHU. I ultimately decided on JHU because they were rated higher in Grad School, DNP, FNP (my track). That was what was important to me. We all have different reasons for our choices, but that was what mattered to me. Now, if Columbia had been cheaper and in a safer much safer area, than maybe I would have chosen that. I just feel like when someone says medicine you think JHU or Mass Gen or Duke. BTW, I didn't choose Duke because I had heard some very bad things about their online process and didn't have a good feeling about it. (again, this is all just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt). Good Luck! :)
  2. Hi. Unfortunately, there appears to be almost zero scholarships from them for DNP, but I encourage you to look for scholarships outside of school. They will advise you slightly on that. They do offer student loans and my student loans are covering the FULL tuition. Also, they advised us not to work our first semester and honestly now I understand why. Some people are working, but it is rough. It depends on your track though. Hope that helps! For the interview, be yourself, be calm and confident, you'll do fine if you got this far. :) I thought I BOMBED my interview and I got in.
  3. Thank you. I also got into Johns Hopkins and am planning on attending there. I wish I could give you good advise. I worked my butt off. It's a 2nd career for me. I had straight A's in my pre-reqs and a high GPA in my actual nursing program. I belong to STTI, ANA and a local nursing org and my alumni assoc. I went to a top 20 school (at the time, I think it's rated higher now.) I don't know if that matters. I worked right after graduating for 3 years before beginning to apply. I was involved in committees at work and am on the BOD for a community org. and am involved in another community org. I honestly don't know what gets you into one place and not another. It doesn't always seem to make sense. Don't be discouraged. When I applied to school for my BSN, I wasn't accepted the first time I applied, I reapplied the next year and got wait-listed. It was frustrating and I was doing everything I could think of to be a strong candidate. I wish you much luck and continued success. I'm happy to answer any other specific questions you have (to the best of my ability). Hope that helps. :)
  4. I did get in, yes. Best of luck to you! :)
  5. I have sent you an invite to the FB page called: "JHU DNP Advance Practice Fall 2017 Start"
  6. I created a FB group for the DNP program, if you are interested in joining, PM me you email address associated with your FB account and I'll add you.
  7. PM me your email address associated with your FB acvount and I'll be happy to add you. Welcome, I'm in the DNP/FNP program too!
  8. Good luck at Duke! It's an awesome school, as well! Thank you so much for the reassurance. Everyone keeps telling me how awful it is and I was a little freaked out by the area I saw. But, the campus itself seemed cool. I will definitely check out the spots you mentioned. The only place I went to while I was there was Hunt Valley Towne Centre. It was a nice little mall with a Vaccaro's Italian Pastry Shop (which was delish!) Again, thank you so much for the reassuring words. I wish you lots of luck with your studies! :)
  9. Congrats! I started a FB group for us, if you PM me your email address I'll invite you to join.
  10. Hi everyone. I just returned from a quick trip to Baltimore. Checked out the safety situation. Holy Crap is the area scary! The main campus is awesome but the SON is not on the main campus. There are cops on every corner, literally. I started a FB group for us by invite only, so if you message me your info I'll add you.
  11. I was thinking of getting a place in the suburbs and driving in. I don't know what parking is like at JHU though. I also don't know whether to get my own place or get a 2 Bedroom and get a roommate. Thoughts?
  12. I'm going to be attending Hopkins in the Fall. I'm from Florida, looking for a place to live. Anyone know of affordable, safe housing options?
  13. I was accepted to the DNP-FNP program at Johns Hopkins! Also, Columbia, Case Western and Emory. Tough decision to make and I'm just at a total loss. Not sure which one to go with. Congrats to those of you who have gotten in, as well.
  14. Do you mean Application deadline? It was October. If you've already been accepted it was in your letter. I was just accepted and my deadline to accept admission is April.
  15. Yeah, I just got an email 3 days ago saying the same thing. Keep me posted. Have you applied anywhere else?
