I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.
Is there a forum for accepted students? I tried to make one but I'm not very good at figuring out this website :) I thought it would be a good place for those accepted to talk about more specifics of the program (like housing)!!
Good luck to all those still waiting to hear!
Edit: I think the one I made worked! It's called "Vanderbilt pre-specialty accepted students fall 2016"
I was accepted into the Pre-Specialty program (WHNP) and am planning on attending the open house. I've been to Nashville the past 2 summers with my boyfriend but not yet with my family members. My mom and I were already planning on taking a trip to the city over my Spring Break and it just happened to overlap with the open house so we figured why not go! I've heard that in the past sometimes they separate people in the Spring open house who have already been accepted, hence they ask on the form when your 'start date/year' would be.
Here's the Facebook page for Pre-Specialty students: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1675254629427096/
A question about the application process and the pre-specialty RN/CNM/MSN program. First, I applied late. My application was pretty much finished (minus 1 of the 5 references I have) as of February 3rd, 2016 and I took the GRE (January 23rd, 2016) with 1 weeks worth of study.
So my question is this: I earned a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Michigan State University May 2015. I also earned two undergraduate degrees; a BBA in 2004 and a BS in Legal Studies in 2007. What GPA do they plan on using to make their decision? Does having already earned a masters have any effect on the substance of the application -- i.e. does it provide more merit to the fact that I have gone down the road of having an advanced degree? My references are STELLAR. My GPA from my masters was a 3.7. Its just that GRE and very short notice and my score was not great; not bad, but not great. I have read everywhere "the whole package is considered." There has only been one that posted back in 2015 they earned a Masters in a related field before applying to the psychiatric nursing program before applying but I am not sure whether she got in or not. Any thoughts on this?

Don't lose hope! I've been told by current students that ALOT of their class came off the waitlist since a lot of people apply multiple places! :)
