I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.
Hi all,I applied to Vanderbilt last year well after the priority deadline, and they immediately let me know that the program I applyied to was full. I decided to turn down other programs in order to apply to Vanderbilt again, since it's my top choice program. I'm preparing my application again for the priority deadline--last year the deadline was Oct. 1, but this year it appears to be Nov. 1. Can anyone confirm?
Yes. The priority deadline is November 1st.
I am applying for the prespecialty MSN in midwifery (I have a non-nursing bachelors). I emailed someone in admissions to find out how long the "brief" statement of purpose should be, and they told me 250 words. Has anyone else heard this? I know the other questions have a limit of 100-250 words, but that seems so short for the personal statement!
Haha I read that comment about the 250 word limit for the SOP and panicked! I'm glad that 1-1.5 pages was recommended. That seems more reasonable to me!
I'm applying to the CNM program too as a PreSpecialty entry student. My background is in anthropology.
I'm going to the open house October 3 too. Vanderbilt is my #1!
I was also curious about the interview process. Do potential CNM students have a phone interview. I was perusing the old forums and it appears that they only have interviews for Psych students. Is this true?
EEK. So nervous. But I'm hopeful! :)
Hello Vanderbilt MSN hopefuls! I am also a current prespecialty student and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. The one thing I can speak to is PMHNP interviews. Expect to be interviewed, but don't freak out if you don't hear from them, since some people are accepted without interviewing. Best of luck with all your applications!

Is there any advantage in applying before the November 1st priority deadline?
