Vanderbilt MSN 2016

Published

I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the Vanderbilt MSN. I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.

I just sent my transcript via parchment to the CDM Vandy option. I think that's all that's necessary. I'm sure you can call to confirm receipt next week or something. I highly doubt they're open today?

Part of me was hoping they'd call the first round of applicants today...I'm going nuts waiting.

Do they notify via phone, email, or mail? Just wondering. I applied for PMHNP and had my interview last week.

I've seen all three in past threads. I had my interview 2 weeks ago, also pmhnp. Good luck!!! Hope we find out something soon.

Hi Everyone,

I applied for the FNP program. I am currently finishing up my BSN in May 2016. I wasn't able to complete my application until after Dec 1. That third semester of nursing school is brutal, lol. Anyway, I received an email pretty quickly saying that this year they have received an unusually large amount of applicants so I should complete my application as quickly as possible. I was also under the impression that the official transcripts were not necessary until an offer of admission, so I got right on it. Has anyone heard of or know how many positions are accepted into the FNP? Hopefully, we will all be cohorts soon!

Hey all, (Especially PMHNP candidates)

Just finished having my interview for the PMHNP program on 12/23. Straight forward questions for the most part, only thing that tripped me up was lack of psychiatric RN experience (was a nurse extern before, clinical preceptorship focused on psych patients in ED, currently grad nurse on ICU step down). Applying with 3.86 GPA, average GRE scores, and two years experience in the nursing field (EMT for 3 years before). Just wondering how much experience other people are applying with and what kind? Any word on how many people they are accepting to the program and when we will find out?

Nervously waiting and not feeling too good about my chances. Hope everyone has had a beautiful holiday!

Good luck Wolfe! Had my interview for pmhnp on the 14th. My gpa isn't as high as yours (3.2) and my GRE was nothing to be desired. I've been a nurse for 17 years, 14 in psych, I've worked adult, dual, gero, adolescent, and ID. Hopefully we both get in!!!

Based on what they said to me during my interview, the more experience you have the less the GRE and GPA matter. Based on all that you have contributed to the field and all the experience you have, you're a shoe in for sure!!

Wolfe, I pray that you're right. I've been planning for this for about 12 years, raising kids has caused me to take a longer route than I would've preferred. I hope that we all get in. I would love to meet everyone!

Just wanted to wish everyone on this thread a very happy new year! Hopefully we will be getting good news very soon!

This wait is killing me. I know it could possibly take up to February 15th, but that is just nuts. I know my chances are slim but it has my future plans in limbo until I know for sure. Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful New Years!!

I'm right there with you! It's next to impossible to concentrate on work or anything else for that matter!

Does anyone know if they are still accepting applications for the PMHNP program or are most of the spots filled?
