Vanderbilt BSN - NP Program Applicants Fall 2010

Published

Hi guys!

I would love to connect with anyone who has applied to Vandy for Fall 2010. I applied to get my BSN and then for FNP. Let me know about you! They say we won't hear back until the end of Feb!

Anyone know chances of getting a spot for FNP (distance) for BSN to FNP if you are on the wait list? I received an email stating that they are still accepting applications but they are wait listing for FNP distance for those of us with BSNs. Anyone know chances of getting a spot...trying to guess.

hi all, i am accepted to the fall acnp program and i am going to be completing it by distance ed. does anyone have any contacts of any grads or current students in the program? i was unable to attend the open house & would really like to talk to someone who has been through the program. i have done online classes before but never at the accelerated pace of vanderbilt's program, i am planning on going prn with my current job but would welcome any advice on completing the program!

Thanks so much to the people who replied to my original post. :p

Update: I finally received my letter from Vanderbilt a few days ago and now I am actually on the waiting list for Fall 2010 FNP.

I think someone else posted on here requesting opinions/facts about what the odds were of actually getting in FNP from the wait list and I too was curious about that. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks!

lol- its been a great thread!

Hey everyone,

I submitted my application earlier this month (April 2010). Is the wait list my only hope of getting in at this point? I know that Vandy says they send Financial Aid info to all applicants, but I wonder why they would waste 3 44-cent stamps to send info to applicants who won't be accepted. Seems like a huge waste of money, especially in these times... Anyway, I hope and pray that I'm accepted, but I have a realistic feeling I won't be at this late date. I submitted my FAFSA application and the Vanderbilt School of Nursing Scholarship application, so maybe they'll see that and know that I am serious about attending there if I'm accepted.

Fingers crossed...

no telling how they they work their magic- I applied 3/15 and found out a few wks later; they notify you by mail. I think it is really program dependant, I' m in ACNP RN Pre-Specialty (RN-MSN) and I have heard the direct entry is waitlisted and specialty year (masters only) are WL--but other specialties have openings. Hope you hear quickly- waiting is the worst!

Are you a RN, which program did you apply to?

Yes, I'm already an RN. I applied to the direct entry FNP program. It's funny but when I applied initially, I wasn't really sure if I could afford grad school at Vandy, but now that I've received the financial aid information, I'm more hyped up than ever about the prospect of going there. Any idea on how many slots they have for incoming students?

Hi guys,

Did everyone that was accepted receive their loan and scholarship info this month? I read somewhere they were going to send it the 2nd or 3rd week of April and I haven't received anything. Thanks!

And by info I mean award letter that tells you how much scholarship you've been awarded and the loans you've qualify for etc.....

Thanks!

@medvision: I have rec'd a scholarship from Vandy but have not gotten this financial aid letter. I was notified by e-mail and phone of my scholarship. I am eagerly awaiting the financial aid letter because I am not sure what other fees and tuition I still am responsible for now. Good luck to you!!!

I'm just curious they type of scholorships they give out and is it large or small as it's a very expensive school. Thanks.

Wow IVICU!!!! Congrats!!! That's awesome. I received my scholarship and loan info today! Thanks for the response!

Creativetype 2007, the amount varies. They give out a few full rides to top performing students, they find out the beginning of April. They do a good job getting just about everyone something.
