I have a question for anyone who might be able to help. I really really want to attend Vanderbilt's AG-ACNP program. My grades are great, I have 6 years experience in an ICU, I'm certified, I have great references, i'm a member of Sigma Theta Tau, I've studied abroad. My question is this...I did not do well on my GRE. I did not make the minimum score on a section. Will my application even be considered? If I need to, I'll take it again but there is no way to have new scores by the Dec. 1st deadline. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi all--
I also applied to AGACNP program this year and have a similar situation to jackpp (decent grades, 6 yrs ICU experience, low writing score on GRE). I emailed and asked if I should retake it and they said it should be fine, that they look at the whole package. Good luck! Please post if/when anyone hears from admissons. :)
Will do!! It's driving me CRAZY!!!
I go to Vanderbilt, and my acceptance letter came on February 23rd as I recall. So you all should be hearing something in about a month an a half, hopefully! They send put acceptance letters by specialty, so the FNP acceptances all go out, the AGNPs, the WHNPs, etc. I know the wait is excruciating. Good luck to all of you!

For that question I basically said that what distinguishes a graduate level learner from a learner at a lesser degree level is.. The life and work experience to narrow down what you really want, an increased level of seriousness and focus, an increased level of responsibility for your work and what you get out of the program, an ability to take on a leadership role, to work autonomously, and maturity to support your cohorts as teammates and not as competition.
Is it March yet...? :-P
