Vanderbilt AG-ACNP program

I have a question for anyone who might be able to help. I really really want to attend Vanderbilt's AG-ACNP program. My grades are great, I have 6 years experience in an ICU, I'm certified, I have great references, i'm a member of Sigma Theta Tau, I've studied abroad. My question is this...I did not do well on my GRE. I did not make the minimum score on a section. Will my application even be considered? If I need to, I'll take it again but there is no way to have new scores by the Dec. 1st deadline. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I go to Vanderbilt. If all your other qualifications are good, and yours sound great, the GRE alone will most likely not be an issue. They look at the total package, and they really place a lot of emphasis on the goal statement and application essay. Apply, and don't worry. You should be fine. :)

That's a relief. I've worked so hard on the rest to the application. What program are you in? Do you like it?!? It just seems top notch. Thank you again.

I'm in the PMHNP program. Vanderbilt is a great school. I think you will really like it. Good luck! :)

I'm going through the same thing. I took my GRE a little late and got a 4.0 on the analytical and 4.5 is needed. I emailed admissions to ask if I would be automatically excluded but I haven't heard back. Fingers crossed!

What program are you applying to? I e-mailed them as well with no response. I guess we'll know in March.

AG-ACNP also...Good luck!

You, too. Are you looking at any other programs?

usually programs look at the whole package, I don't think that the one test score will exclude you

I also applied to Vanderbilt's AG-ACNP program for the Fall. I'm so nervous and eager to hear back! Good luck everyone!

I am thinking about applying to the FNP RODP program but I really want to do Acute...what about you?

Hey SaraStrong...what are your thoughts on the responsibility of the adult learner question on the application?

For that question I basically said that what distinguishes a graduate level learner from a learner at a lesser degree level is.. The life and work experience to narrow down what you really want, an increased level of seriousness and focus, an increased level of responsibility for your work and what you get out of the program, an ability to take on a leadership role, to work autonomously, and maturity to support your cohorts as teammates and not as competition.

Is it March yet...? :-P
