Hello
I am thinking of applying for the viu nursing in nanaimo but i'm having a hard tome finding any information on their practicums at the end of each year. Ive called and left messages but i was wondering if anyone had any personal experience in the program? did you like it?
thank you!
I am currently upgrading my prerequisites with a ton of other future nursing students at viu Duncan campus. It's extremely competitive to et into their nursing degree here!
My bio teacher said out of everyone who applies they take 72 students got in, and only three of them were current students at viu before applying to the nursing degree. I had an interview with Donna at students services and she told me an easier way is to apply to north island college which is part of the ten universities that offer the same. Curriculum in b.c and do my first or second year there the. Transfer to viu for my third or fourth year.
haha i did mean grant macewan but thats okay!thanks for the information though ill let you know when i find out! i thought about applying to north island college but the good thing about viu is that is doesnt have a wait list! isnt north island college one of the schools though yes easier to get into they have up to two year wait lists?
Haha yup I got a little too excited and launched into my life story for you. I applied to grant mac as well, for both the Fall and winter terms. I've heard it's competitive as well, but it seems that all the schools are now. But if you got your application in early then you stand a pretty good chance.
The suggestion Donna gave about transferring from one of the partner schools is a good idea. Probably won't be the route I take though, I don't think I could justify the living expenses for such a short period of time. It would be cheaper for me to do it locally and transfer somewhere else.
Ya I do not think I would personally go that route either by yeah it's a good option for others ! Im just starting to get really anxious its getting hard to stay focused on my classes now but I need to keep my grades up ! All I find myself doing is looking at scrubs online haha . Have you heard anything about unbc ? I har hear d more bad reviews than good but I have heard its really easy to get into
Ahaha I know! I'm totally the same way. I need to do well so I can get in, but I need to get in to stay motivated. It's a vicious circle.
I haven't heard anything about UNBC, good or bad. I was thinking maybe TRU, but the next intake is for Sept. 2014. I'd kinda like to start this year, but if I have to wait another year I will. Hopefully it doesnt come to that, I've already applied to 2 different intakes before this one!
Hopefully you get in this time!! I looked into TRU a bit aswell but I cant remember why but i decided against that one but at this point i dont wanna be picky id be happy going anywhere!! But from what i read it seemed like a good program!! this is my first time applying so hopefully it works out...so stressful !
Hi guys! Sorry to bother an old friend, but I recently got accepted into VIU for the fall term, and was wondering if either of you ended up attending there. I'm a transfer student with a year and a half of University credits, so any information about how transfer credit worked and how the program is would be very appreciated! Thanks :)
Congrats on your acceptance! Yes it is pretty competitive to get in there.
I just finished my first year of the BSN program at VIU and I am currently doing my first clinical practicum for the month of May (they call it intersession on the calendar).
It is a great program, with so many great instructors! I especially like how you don't have to do a year of general studies, just dive right in to the nursing classes. Everything is so relevant and interesting.
Good luck!
Hello!
I applied to UFV and VIU for the BSN program this September. I had all A's when I sent in two upgraded course marks part way through the semester and finished with 3 As and an A+. Originally, I was declined as UFV didn't allow me to send in my interm upgraded grades and VIUs seats were all full but I guess seats opened up. Last week, I was wait listed for VIU and on Monday, I got a life changing call.
I have been accepted into Septembers intake for the BSN program at VIU. I will be relocating from Chilliwack to Nanaimo this summer to take the seat... I'm both super excited and nervous!
All universities are competitive to get into but you just have to keep at it! VIU only looks at four grades to get in. UFV looked at four grades, volunteer hours, entrance essay and an interview!
Good luck to all who are working at it and I look forward to meeting anyone who got in for Septembers intake!
:)
