Tweety glad your dog guest is settling in.  I hope your sister is OK

Dianah I made a crock pot paella.  The choir did sing Sunday, only 3 people but it was a short piece that seemed to go well

Amo I guess they're not, haven't seen a post from Ted in months

Stars I do the bread by hand, kind of a pain but once the dough starts rising there isn't a lot more to do except wait

Ado I can see how that could  be  both sad and frustrating

NJ22 glad it was sunny there

Was a less busy day yesterday.  Got to church early for choir practice.  We only had 3 people but apparently we did well, the minister congratulated us afterwards, had not done that before.

J had a headache so our plans for brunch were canceled.  Instead I stopped by the arboretum to get one of their puzzles, they have many nice ones.  However I've found that I don't really have enough table space for it, will have to figure out a solution.

Made bread too, think it turned out good although we'll see.   It's taken less time the  more I do it, although with the baking and the rising and all it's still 3-4 hours.

We start using the new software today at work, hope it isn't too much of a mess.  I reviewed my notes last night and I hope that helps.

Bible study tonight.

Going to be in the 20s today but up to 40 tomorrow and  up to 50 on Wed

Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a decent day.

Ado, I'm in Florida.  We are literally on all four corners of the state.  Dianah is SW in California.  J22 is NW in Washington state, BC is NE in Rhode Island/Mass. and SE in Florida.  Others scattered about here and there.  ?

Amo, I love chocolate covered cherries but find them so sweet that two is enough.  I don't dare buy a box.

Dianah, sounds like a good day with good friends.

J22, happy early birthday.  One of these days I'm going to make some home made gnocchi.  I've seen recipes using sweet potatoes that looks good.

Haven't gotten much done yet today but will make some beans for lunch soon.  Going to make my own Puerto Rican spice blend.  Will clean the bathrooms and go to the gym.  Bowling tonight.

Have a great day.

Good afternoon, folks. I woke up to rain, but it has subsided, temps are mild. It looks like we will not get our usual mid-February snowfall. Thats fine with me. We had enough around Christmas to last for a couple of years.

We had a lovely dinner and visit last night with eldest ds and his wife. They gave us framed pictures from their wedding as birthday gifts. And they gave me some nice insulated gloves for cycling. Ds and his bride shared a wedge salad and and artichoke tomato pizza. Dh and I had cacio e pepe, which is pasta with cheese and pepper. It was their own pasta, a bucatini, which is like a fat spaghetti noodle. It was delicious! And I had an affagato for desert, which is gelato with a shot of espresso poured over. The gelato was a little too sweet for my taste.

I tried a new place to run this morning, out on some unused roads that is open to bikes and pedestrians only. I could look out over Puget Sound and the islands. The asphalt road is deteriorated and rough, and my feet got a little sore. I'm not sure I'll go there again. I went to pick up a prescription for dh and they said the co-pay was $800! Last month it was $160. I left it there and came home and looked on the insurance website and the drug company website because he has a "saving card." I finally called the drug company and was told the pharmacy needs to bill insurance first, and then apply the saving card. I will go back down there in a little bit to let them know.

Not much else going on. Did my prescribed exercises. Almost all of them are to be done with a 10 second hold, and ten reps. I feel like I've been counting to 10 for 3 months, with little to show for it. I have another acupuncture appt tomorrow. I think he thinks the PT gave me the wrong diagnosis. I sensed she wasn't sure of herself during my visits, so maybe my intuition was right.

Anyhoo, I may try making Dianah's crack slaw and fried rice for dinner. Will need to swing into the grocery store when I go to the pharmacy.

 ❤️ Happy Valentine's Day to one and all~ ❤️

It was sunny today, but with a cold wind. I went grocery shopping at Harris-Teeter, which was a bit confusing, because I have only been to this particular store twice. They are larger than and have quite a different set-up/layout from the H-T up in Asheville; of course it being 7+ years since I shopped at H-T up in the mtns, what can I expect? (??Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!"--as per David Bowie)

j22, I'll be very interested to hear what the MRI shows. How much longer do you have to wait for that appointment? // PLEEZE be very careful running on old, deserted, un-used roads by yourself. Didn't you say you jog with tear-gas spray or something? I'd get a can of Air-Horn AND Bear-spray, too. When I think how I used to wander around in the woods all by myself for years... around Nashville in their three big parks, in Swannanoa, NC (Once termed Swanna-nowhere)...anyway, fortunately, that was way before lone women had to worry too much about being accosted. I had a square-shouldered stance and a facial expression I used to term my "Boston-Subway-Face" which very much let people know, "DON'T mess with ME!" (Quite effective since 1970, if I do say so myself!)

If y'all get a chance to watch figure-skating tomorrow night, see if you can catch the 14-15 year-old Russian girl's skate. She looks tall, (but I am not sure that she is tall...) is thin-angular, is a fabulous skater, and one of the very few females who can land several quad-jumps in her program. (I have no opinion of her drug-screen that is being talked of...I think it is the Russian adults' fault, not hers.)

Hubby just LOOOOVES chocolate-covered cherries, but alas, since his diabetes diagnosis he has had to give them up. I'm with Tweety: the choc-cov-cherries are so sweet, one or two is plenty enough!

Ado- I grew up in North-eastern Massachusetts, quite near the Eastern Shore; went to nsg sch at the "Holy-Smoke School of Practically Nurses", in Cambridge, Massachusetts; later I lived in Nashville, TN for a few years, then in the WNC mtns, and now I live in the middle of NC. (flat-lands, not near mtns or seashore.)

Watching snips and clips from the Super Bowl half-time show and the famous Super Bowl ads. Next up are some more of the Winter Olympics events.

...outta here for now...

Joe - Ted stopped posting here when he & Amy went on vaca (Italy?). Some here said he WAS posting to facebook. Miss him. Maybe if we all get together and ESP him ----

LOL, Stars. I really was wondering why you kept talking about Massachusetts! I grew up here in OK, moved to IN after college and lived there until I finished nursing school in 2011, then came back to OK.  Happy not to have to deal with midwestern winters. Tweety, my in-laws had a place in a retirement community in Port St. Lucie for several years and we would spend a few days there when the kids had their Spring break. My sister-in-law (who is 65 and has Alzheimer's) and her husband still have a place there and go for the winters. Hubs has a good friend who lives in the Orlando area.

Joe, I tried baking bread and doing it all by hand and it just wasn't the spiritual experience I thought it would be (!!). I have thought about getting a bread machine. I remember my father-in-law using one and making fresh bread and it was always good. On the other hand, I have more than enough stuff to try to store in the kitchen. So I don't do it.

J22 affagato sounds delicious. And amo, I do love chocolate cherries.

Hello all!

nursej22, that restaurant food sounds delicious!!  Hope you can get the savings you need on the prescriptions.  I saw an ad for an online pharmacy, and then an article in Forbes: "Billionaire Mark Cuban Opens Online Pharmacy To Provide Affordable Generic Drugs".  The company doesn't deal with insurance companies, and charges only 15% markup on the medications.  The Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company.  Sounded intriguing and my first thought was, "if this is true, good for him!  Hope it works the way he intends it to!"

Chocolate cherries are good, and I agree: VERY sweet!

Have a good evening!

Stars, I only run in wide open places. The people I pass are mostly dog people, who in my opinion, are the best people. If and when my spidey-senses start to tingle, I leave pronto. I do have what my kids call a "Mama Bear"  ? look that will get many to back off. I used it a time or 2 as a charge nurse, with the intended effect, LOL.

I did get the discount intended, but I did have to listen to a mini-lecture from the pharmacist about how deductibles work. Oh honey, I been using deductibles since before you were born. I wish Novo Nordisk, that makes Ozempic, would broadcast few commercials and knock down their price. Dh has had good results, but hoo boy, that first of the year hit stings.

Uh, no thanks to chocolate covered cherries. I prefer my cherries tart and in pie, nom, nom.
