So who here will be starting the program at Valencia in Spring of 2011. I figured this would be a good place to share our excitement and questions.... because that e-mail we just got with our orientation materials was kind of over whelming lol.:yeah:

I also went to Herzing to see about their nursing program and was really iffy about it. I just started at Valencia, I'm in Nursing I :w00t:

I also have a co-worker that she got all her pre-reqs done at Valencia and she doesn't start till Jan of 2013. But, before going to Valencia I was going to SCC and they denied me twice because "they were full". I love the program at Valencia they are more student oriented and offer more resources for student.

I think the wait is like that no matter where you go. Just do your pre-reqs for nursing and while you wait to get into the program do your Bachelor pre-reqs, because everything with nursing now, you have to have your BSN. Good luck with what you pick

Yeah I totally agree with the fact that VCC is more student oriented than SSC. All SSC cares about is making money. I had to transfer after not even finishing my 1 semester at SSC because they played with me and told me I was eligible for financial aid for Summer 2011 before I even enrolled and then to tell me 3 times no I am not elegible after they told me 3 times YES. Is more like a game the play. Oh not to mention that I have submitted my official transcripts back in November 2010 and as of today still have not reviewed them and most of the classes I took were not going to transfer compared to VCC they will transfer. Also I was able to enroll for classes at VCC for the Fall 2011 already and SSC cannot even enroll until end of July of 2011. All about money and themselves and no one else.

Thanks for the wish and good luck to you too!!! :D

I just need some confirmation. After receiving the acceptance letter from Valencia, we don't need to reply or do anything except waiting for the orientation e-mail. Do they send you a confirmation e-mail (when)? Thanks

After you receive your letter of confirmation you just wait for an email that will tell you to get your CPR, fingerprint, background check, your immunizations, fit mask, and then in orientation you purchase your uniform, polo shirts, and VNSA membership (optional). But you do need to purchase a stethoscope and sphygmometer (manual BP), but I suggest you purchase them at a local scrub shop, it's cheaper. I hope this helps. When are you starting?

at Mkerrigan,

Thanks for the reply, I am starting on spring 2012. Do you know when we receive the letter of confirmation?

You should be receiving it by August/October 2011. You get it through your atlas account. I got my letter in February 2011 and my orientation was April 1, 2011. You'll probably get it the beginning of the fall semester.

at Mkerrigan, Thanks for the info.

Hello Fellow Nursing Students:o)

I am beginning the Valencia-UCF Concurrent Program next month, and have already ordered my books for Valencia and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what topics to read over, such as assessment, wound care, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I went to SSC before and totally agree that the atmosphere at Valencia is more student oriented, I actually feel as though they want you to succeed and not just want your money.

*Also, you can find good deals on books on amazon (if u register ur valencia email address, u get student free 2 day shipping) and also borders.com, search for promo codes, and u can save a lot of money, as they have buy 1 get 1 1/2 off, 30-40% off a book on top of free shipping.

Any words of advice from current Valencia Nursing Students to Future? Thanks!

Monica

How long did it take for you guys/gals to get accepted right now im doing my pre reqs :) i cant wait to get to where you guys are at :) !! does it depend on ur gpa on who gets accepted first and also does anyone know any information about the concurrent program ? any info. would be soo much appriciated! thanks in advance

Hi,

I received an e-mail invitation to do the concurrent program, but I rejected it . As far as I know, you need to be invited by Valencia or UCF and the conditions to be accepted are: to have finished the prerequisites for the UCF's Bachelor's degree program and have been awarded an AA degree. My GPA for the nursing program was more than 3.5 and my TEAS score was in the 80's. After you receive the invitation, then they will tell you what the next steps are.

In order to be accepted into the generic AS program you have to have at least a 2.5 GPA, pass the TEAS test, and finish Valencia's prerequisites. As long as you have these, you will be automatically accepted. I applied for the program back in Summer 2010 and they placed me into Spring 2013.

Good luck in your career!
