The union is PEF. It is 10 years to be vested and I am not to sure if it's he same if you become a amanager. Tuition reimbursement is I believe 2 3 credit courses for SUNY or a specific set amount for a non suny school. You make your own schedule but management adjusts it. Weekend nights are Saturday and Sunday. And as far as getting 2 weekends in a row off if you need I think it is specific to each situation at that time

Yes I can answer you here too. I saw this after I responded by private message, I don't know if you got that. There are union dues which is about $100 a month Health insurance is about $200 per paycheck (biweekly) for family coverage. Unfortunately a lot more then northwell. You also have to pay for parking which is about $20 per month Yes. Pay is less! In 1 month you have to work 12-12 hour shifts, 2-8 hour shifts. And in L&D you have to work 2-8 hour on call shifts. Ever other weekend and holidays There is no extra pay for any kind of certifications The manager in L&D is soo nice! Good luck on your interview. Any other questions just ask!

You cannot transfer until after 1 year in the system. I never heard that once you leave you cannot come back. But if you leave on "bad terms" You will not be rehired.

Have you ever worked in the hospital before? If not then I would take the hospital offer. In my opinion with the amount of patients you see in a day and then completing all the charting It is not "flexible" like they tell you it is. Some people stay up late or wake up extra early just to complete their charting. The "6" patients you see turns into 9 quickly. You do get good at wound care and patient education, insert foleys and apply wound vacs. I'd rather just do my 12 hour shift and not take work home with me. Try asking to shadow a nurse for a day to see if you like it before you committ.

I could have written this post myself. I tried transferring back into the hospital with the same company and even went on an interview but HR told me I couldn't take the job and had to wait until my 1 year mark. When I spoke to the interviewing manager I just told her I was leaving this job because it is just so different from working in the hospital, I realized I did not like working 9-5 and bringing work home with me and that home care is just not a good fit for me. She totally understood and offered me the job. I was so upset when I was later told I couldn't transfer. Good luck!

I live in Eastern LI and I just got a job with LIJ this October. I am a new grad and went to nursing school in Florida so I had no connections. I just kept applying constantly until they called me for a phone interview for a med/surg position I applied to back in July. It took me a while to get a hospital job

Yes I'm a new grad. The recruiter said it was for a post partum position. My interview is on the 24th with the nurse manager but the recruiter said she would be there too. Have you gotten a call yet? The recruiter said I was her first call today, but I hope they don't interview to many people! lol

I haven't heard back yet. I just went on the first interview with the nurse recruiter. I applied the first time the post came up and they called me about 5 days later for an interview. They said they do not discuss salary until after you are hired. The December program starts December 2nd

I am not sure if they have a new edition of the book sorry. As for a stethoscope, I just looked online for the cheapest, but not the crappiest one I could find. For the blood pressure cuff, just find a real cheap one because you wont use it after the 1st semester. The program is not easy but it is doable. I work part time and take a UCF class along with Valencia and I'm doing good. You have to stay on top of your readings, listen to what they emphasize during class and just take it week by week. They don't do just 1 test to see if you pass the semester. They have the 3 or 4 tests for the content you are going over and at the end of each semester they have a HESI exam, which is just cumulative. Which all count for a certain amount of points towards your grade. In the nursing program, your overall grade from all the tests must be a 77 to pass the semester. I found the 1st semester the hardest because they give you so much reading to do and many skills to practice, but it does get better!
