Valencia CC Spring of 2011

So who here will be starting the program at Valencia in Spring of 2011. I figured this would be a good place to share our excitement and questions.... because that e-mail we just got with our orientation materials was kind of over whelming lol.:yeah:

Is anyone going to try and get into the UCF concurrent program? It sounds hard, but I think I would like my BSN a little faster. I hope I get accepted!

I don't think Valencia has that concurrent option anymore. Please, someone, correct me if I'm wrong, but yeah, coulda swore they discontinued it.

I just received the letter from Valencia for students accepted for the Summer and Fall of 2011 and Spring of 2012. They will start the program in the Fall of 2011, the letter was sent to students with GPA's over 3.0

do you know how you go about applying for the concurrent program?? i got the letter, but im a little lost on what i should do next, i will be finishing up last set of pre-req's (Stats,&Chem) next semester and i have been admitted into the summer 2011 term.

Actually, I read that letter about the concurrent program and when I re-read it I noticed that it said if you are accepted into the Nursing program for Summer 2011 that you have to defer your entry and start in the Fall 2011. Now, I've heard and been to seminars from SCC about the concurrent and how it works is: you take your nursing classes from Valencia and in additional you have to take an extra maybe 2 classes for UCF.

From what I've seen from fellow colleageas that have taken the nursing program it is very detailed and requires a lot of attention. I was thinking about doing the concurrent, but decided not to because I think it would be too stressful. Are any of you trying it out?

Congrats to everyone who has gotten into the program!!! I wanted to know if someone can list the books that will be needed. It seems its a long list some listed as optional, and some are required. Perhaps i can start reading before starting the program.

yeah i dont understand how at the end of the day you end up with 129 credits from valencia and ur only awarded an AS -________-

then your only missing 27 credits from ucf to have ur BSN....strange the way the nursing world works

I know how you feel. I can't understand that either, but a lot of the classes are pre-req's to the pre-req's that don't actually count towards a degree. I think in the end it's a money thing.

i deicded aginsit the VCC-UCF concurrent program..at the end of the day it only shaves off ONE semester toward your bsn.....not that big a deal. i mean why stress myself out to be finished ONE semester early.

That is the exact same reason why I decided not to do it. We've been in school this long, what's one more semester. When do you start?
