Hi future nurses ?
I have started to submit materials to all of the schools that I am applying to this year (yippie!) and saw that the University of Washington's BSN program application opened today.
I thought it might be fun to start a thread for this cohort of applicants for questions, comments, worries, etc.
I am a post-bacc student with a sub-par GPA (3.1 undergrad in Sociology with a 3.6 pre-requisite GPA). I previously earned my CNA license in another state, and I am hoping to get it reinstated in Washington here in the next couple of weeks... and hopefully get some CNA work experience.
I'd love to hear from anyone about their application experiences with UW in the past!
Let's chat ?

Disappointed because it was my number one choice, but can’t be too upset of course. I’m just grateful to have other options. Congratulations to everybody that got in! Good luck to all of you.
Can I ask what other programs you applied at?

apparently they have made it through the entire waitlist before. Can’t find any exact numbers for last year but know they made it to at least spot 17. Im 37, I’ll let you know if I ever get a spot LOL
I’m kinda hoping for a miracle at this point. I didn’t apply to any other programs as my heart was dead set on UW. Hopefully we’ll see each other in the Fall!

Yeah of course. I was gearing applications toward the west coast rather than just Seattle. So I applied to UCLA, CSU Long Beach, UW Seattle, Seattle U, PLU, San Diego State, Seattle Pacific, and one outside the west coast, UPenn.

That’s a hell of a list, my vote goes to San Diego state, then UCLA, but that’s because I’m from so cal.

Check you junk email.
I got rejected again this year from UW. I'm a former foster youth and first generation college student. I got accepted into Baker University, Kansas University, John Hopkins and Duke University.
I'm making a choice tonight to accept an offer this weekend.
I'm so happy for all of you guys. Keep pushing though. Your going to touch peoples hearts as nurses.
Ps. The links they provided in the UW decision emails don't even work. ? I feel they are losing their touch and things are
Edit: I guess the links were overwhelmed, because it took 10 minutes to load the page.

Those are all good schools! The only other school I applied was PLU, they reached out about my recommendations not being submitted and they needed that in order to give me a decision, I got it taken care of some I hopeful that means they want to accept me. Anyway congrats on the other schools!

Thank you. I wish you the best of luck with your future success. Your going to be the chosen one someday. Just keep swimming.
Currently, I'm upsetti spaghetti because UW was my dream school. I've always wanted to go there since I took a tour in the 7th grade. I had high hopes this year and wasn't even offered a waitlist position.
Taking the night to self care and clear my mindset.

I didn’t apply to any other program either. Twice I toured Seattle U, PLU, and SPU. Personally UW was the only school that was truly welcoming to my identity. I knew the experience I had would eventually land me into a good school but I wanted that school to be truly INCLUSIVE.

Healthcare leadership. I worked as a CNA, then med tech, then lead med tech then in supervisory management. I truly love this field and I think that’s why it was easy for me to come to work and want to know and learn everything about healthcare policies, procedures, ethics, etc which matriculated me into management roles.
I also detailed the importance of healthcare equity. In management I learned how dismantling disparities begins with accountability from us who are entrusted with servicing others.
3 of my natural world courses are below a 2.6. This was a direct result of personal hardships I was going through at the time of taking these courses and I made sure that I touched on that briefly. I mention this here because this program truly does weigh each application holistically. Your grades are only a FRACTION of your application. For any future applicants, be sure to be honest about what your ‘why’ is for applying to nursing school. What extensive experience do you not only think should award you a place in nursing school but would make you a GREAT nurse? Congratulations to everyone who was accepted and an early congratulations to all those who were waitlisted or rejected because you WILL get into nursing school and become a great nurse!
