I am hoping to start a thread for University of Washington’s BSN program for Fall 2020.
Is anyone else applying to the traditional BSN after being rejected or waitlisted for the ABSN? What are your strategies in improving your application this time around?
I am currently waitlisted for the ABSN, and having just completed my BS, I have my heart set on that program. But through the application process I realized that I would rather do two years of school at UW than do an ABSN anywhere else. I look forward to getting to know you all better in this process. Good luck to all the applicants!
Hey echo04,
sorry for the late reply. Well, our med-surg clinical has been relegated to an "online" clinical experience which...sucks to say the least. We begin tomorrow. We will be using online virtual simulations and a fake EHR system called Docucare so at least that's something. Our skills lab is also going to be online (!). However, the faculty have told us that fall quarter and next year will have expanded in-person skills learning opportunities for us so we get a chance to practice the most critical skills in the skills lab on the mannequins and such. Our lecture classes have also been moved online.
In my cohort, a lot of us are scrambling to get nurse tech positions at hospitals, to make up for the missed hands-on experience (myself included). It is an interesting time. I have to say I am definitely hoping to get on an acute care floor, not to get exposed, but again to get some invaluable real-world experience and help patients during this unique time. A pandemic is also an opportunity so I'm trying to take advantage of what I can.
Anyways, March 30th...your acceptance emails are right around the corner! not much longer now!
hi guys!!
@brendamatadiaz I believe @berserk_angel was referring to the date being when the comment was written and how we’re close to the date we will be notified about decisions.
that’s all I’ve been thinking about too! We are almost there! I’m hoping they don’t make us wait any longer than the date they had given us which I too think was April 17th not 27. Considering they haven’t told us it would be longer but with the current situation I can definitely understand why if it was to happen ?
Hey All!
As you all probably noticed, it's been a pretty crazy time at the SoN. We haven't been in the office since March and a lot of staff and faculty have been hard at work trying to maximize the current student experience so that everyone still has a solid education and graduates on time! We appreciate your patience.
The GOOD NEWS is that this should not impact our admissions decisions timeline! I won't give any specific dates as everyone needs to remain pretty fluid during this time, but I'm hoping to get them out before the 17th (not the 27th ?).
We may be making phone calls to admitted students (similar to how we announce ABSN admissions). Because everyone is remote, admitted students may receive calls from our personal cell phones. I know it's hard to answer unknown numbers but if you're getting a call (usually on a Friday), pick up!
Anyways, that's it from me. As always, hope everyone is staying safe!

From what I remember reading we would be notified by April 17th not 27th. I was hoping they would notify us earlier considering we are dealing with this COVID pandemic times. Give us one less thing to stress and worry about. I'm telling myself 2 more weeks of anxiety and the closer it gets the worse I feel then I tell myself it will either be an acceptance mail or denial nothing else so I have to prepare myself to either celebrate or be disappointed and my heart is leaning more towards celebrating...hehe. I agree I hope Adrian Acosta answers this question. Praying for you all and good luck to us.
