UW BSN 2017

Published

Hello All!

I am applying the the University of Washington BSN program, starting in Fall 2017. I was curious how everyone's' applications process is going? Have you submitted your applications yet, what are your healthcare, and volunteer experiences? Do you feel prepared for nursing school? Why are you interested in the UW? Do you have any questions about your application?

I am just starting my application for the UW nursing program, starting in fall of 2017. I am an Emergency Dept. Tech. I really enjoy it, but I definitely want to learn how to be a better and more reactive caregiver, and I think nursing provides an excellent pathway to learn and develop great care giving skills.

Good Luck!

Thank you for responding mrHang. When did you start see a movement? I have been reading tons of forums and like you said the movement varies every year. I saw people that were #9 on the waitlist get accepted and people that where #4 or #3 never got in.... anyway congrats on getting accepted!

If I remember correctly, it was shortly after the deadline for admitted students to confirm their acceptance.

Thanks for the reply and congratulations to you for earning a spot! Very exciting!!!

I read on the website that they try not to make the waitlist longer than how many spots they will anticipate opening up (I know that's impossible to predict, and will vary from year to year.) I wonder how long the waitlist is this year?

Also, did anyone else apply to other schools, and know when the letters of intent are due there?

This was definitely a very competitive year. Aside from huge increase of applications from last year, applicant quality was definitely increased.

Waitlist movement can be unpredictable. Last year we moved 5 spots, year prior I believe it was 8.

Unfortunately we are no longer able to offer advising to applicants hoping to improve their application. I did state back in February that this was an option, but my position with the School of Nursing has changed and we no longer have the resources to offer advising to Undergraduate students. I apologize that this loss of opportunity is unexpected.

This is my second time around being rejected... I have heard with UW's BSN that one should give up after two tries? Is this true?

Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA/hours of experience? and how did you feel like you did during the second round? Did you miss any math questions? I was rejected this year and since we no longer get advising I'd like to get as much insight as I can.

Hey everyone, I also got my offer of acceptance! I was rejected last year, but it sure feels rewarding to be able to get in this year. I know that unfortunately there is no more advising, but I'm willing to share statistics/advice! Just message me. I'm thinking we should maybe start a FB group for our cohort?

Great idea @RDHusky! I made a group just now on FB, the name is "UW BSN Class of 2019". Hopefully think link works for all of you: Log into Facebook | Facebook

Hi all! I have stumbled back onto allnurses and found this page. I was accepted and I am so very excited! Congrats to everyone else! This year was VERY competative.

@huskypride - I tried adding the facebook group with my uw email (I am a uw alumni returning back to uw for my bsn). It seems my uw email is not working and I cannot add the group. Do you know if it is only set to accept active students?

Thanks for the help!!

I figured out the problem!

@court2889 Okay I'm glad it worked out :)
