UW BSN 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello All!

I am applying the the University of Washington BSN program, starting in Fall 2017. I was curious how everyone's' applications process is going? Have you submitted your applications yet, what are your healthcare, and volunteer experiences? Do you feel prepared for nursing school? Why are you interested in the UW? Do you have any questions about your application?

I am just starting my application for the UW nursing program, starting in fall of 2017. I am an Emergency Dept. Tech. I really enjoy it, but I definitely want to learn how to be a better and more reactive caregiver, and I think nursing provides an excellent pathway to learn and develop great care giving skills.

Good Luck!

I got waitlisted for the ABSN in December but have been accepted into the BSN program so I'm very thankful! Congrats to everyone who also got the good news!

I am beyond excited to have been accepted! Wow! Seriously the best day ever.

I was accepted :) super super happy!

Congratulations to everyone who got in. If you did not get in, don't worry. It was incredibly competitive and doesn't mean you won't be a good nurse.

Congratulations to those who got in! What an amazing accomplishment to be accepted! I am on the waitlist. For those that were accepted, is there a deadline to accept or reject your invitation? I have so much "life" to get together hinging on this. I will have to move, find a school for my kids, leave my job with enough notice to train someone else, etc. I'm trying to guesstimate my odds of getting in so I can get the ball rolling. Thanks!

Congrats everyone. Sadly I was denied, not even on the waitlist. But luckily, I'm only 18 and just about to graduate high school and I'm still going to attend UW so I have many more opportunities! (Running Start Student) again, congrats to everyone and goodluck on your journey. Hopefully I will get in next year!

Hey futurenursemiller36! I did the same thing, as a Running Start student I got all my pre-nursing prereqs! But after graduating high school last year, I decided to take a gap year to get some healthcare experience. This helped a lot, because in about 4 months I was able to get over 500 hours of experience! Definitely apply next year and good luck!

Was denied a second year in a row. Went into the proctored essay for both years so I'm still trying to process the shock. It said in the e-mail that no appointments could be made regarding admission decisions, but does anyone think this is true? I would personally like to know why I didn't make the cut when I felt like I was so close. Anyway, congrats to everyone who made it!

We have to have our letter of intent in by the 28th.

I wonder what are the odds for the people on the waitlist. Like many of you said, this year has been very competitive and I don't believe other students will give up their spot so easily. This is going to be a very long Spring/Summer for me.

The first time I applied, I was waitlisted at #24 and near the end I made it to #9 so there is a possibility of a lot of movement, however the school has stated that it is not a consistent trend and varies greatly year by year.

Thank you for responding mrHang. When did you start see a movement? I have been reading tons of forums and like you said the movement varies every year. I saw people that were #9 on the waitlist get accepted and people that where #4 or #3 never get in.... anyway congrats on getting accepted!
