I'm from Seattle, and I am applying to the University of Washington to be part of the 2015 cohort for their ABSN program. I wanted to know if there was anyone else here on the same journey. Yes?
I'm applying to a few other ABSN programs around the country, too:

I know admission to UW and the other accelerated nursing programs are pretty competitive, and I hope to give myself a shot of getting in somewhere by increasing the places to which I apply. The schools I'd really love to attend most are OHSU, Johns Hopkins and MGH.
My undergraduate GPA is 3.91, and my nursing prerequisites GPA is 3.95. I only have A&P II and Microbiology remaining, which I'll do this fall semester, in three weeks. I'm volunteering at a Cancer Clinic, which I do one day a week, and I just started a full-time job at a hospital on Pill Hill a few weeks ago. I'm pretty nervous about embarking on a new chapter.
Any other folks out there? What other schools beside UW are you applying to? Have you completed your letter of motivation?
@born2bns: I'm currently living near campus, but in a three bedroom. If you're looking for just a room, you can find them for $500+. I'm unsure as to what the plan will be here, so I might seek out a single bedroom, or perhaps try to go meet some other nursing students to try and create some sort of ABSN entourage!
Also, I am starting to wonder what needs to happen now? I know we need to complete the UW Postbacc application, but I don't think that becomes available until next week. I'm debating whether or not an entirely new personal statement would be beneficial.
@ZrowGz I don't think we need the entirely new personal statemen for UW post bac application. I hope it wouldn't be too much cuz I already went through too much of application process and am too exhausted to make another one
Been looking more into the post bacc application. It seems like it is a pretty comprehensive application as well, and totally separate from the SoN one. Their requirements for a statement of goals is pretty different. Also, people in previous years wrote whole new ones!

I didn't get a call...I think that means I definitely didn't get in, right? Did everyone get a call? The admissions blog didn't mention anything about the calls, but probably so everyone doesn't freak out like I'm doing. I haven't gotten a call yet either - SF Bay Area - I'll update if/when I hear anything!
I haven't gotten a call either, and it really has messed with my mind! haha, I assume though it really means I must have not gotten in Just preparing for the worst...
For those who have not yet received a call: remember, your stars can change pretty quickly. It is not uncommon for students get off the wait list . Don't give up hope but do plan ahead for all eventualities.
This forum has been insightful for many things, but after speaking with the advisors and reading the posts I have so many questions and concerns! In particular I feel that I need honest feedback from the individuals who have been accepted into UW's BSN program or know a lot about the 'sifting' process (so to speak) for the BSN program at UW.
Here's my information:
I attended UW and graduated with my BA (CHID) Major about 5 years ago. UW BA GPA- 3.3
In my last quarter at UW through I volunteered at SCH in the phase I and II recovery surgery recovery units as well as the PEDI E.D. (in 5 years including in Boston ~100 hours of hospital volunteer work).
I ended up moving to Boston for a job that I could not refuse. In Boston I run/ coordinate a research study for the Chief of Cardiology. I take full medical histories for the docs in our study and have been trained to do full physicals (listening to heart, lungs, etc.), council them on their medications and lab results, do basic vascular ultrasounds, draw blood, perform ECG's. My patients are absolutely wonderful!! I do not have my CNA license. I have worked as a pediatric phlebotomist (in-patient and out-patient) for 3 years.
For the past year and a half I have been doing my pre-nursing at a local community college (and working full time). My GPA for both the sciences and accum. is 3.85
I have really fine tuned my resume to be very nursing focused. All of my positions for the 10,000+ hours have been directly involved with nurses to provide care to patients and coordinating their care. My resume has been tune to be very specific on my interactions/ overlap with nurses.
One HUGE concern I have is that UW "strongly" recommends a letter of rec from an RN or NP...Mine will be coming from a chief of Cardiology. And frankly, I do not have a boss that is an NP or RN...Opinions???
My Questions...Do you think I will have a competitive application? What should I focus on to make it better? Should I take drug calculation before the proctored essay?
