Haha 15 minutes after my interview I got an email saying the position was filled. They did ask if I wanted to interview for another unit but should I even bother? Congrats to those that got the job.

Are you all applying as new grads for summer hires? Or the ones who got interviews starting soon? I am graduating from UVA CNL program in May and I am curious about the process. I applied but was told we wouldn't get interviews until January at some point! Thanks for any information!

Hey soulshine. I think these folks have all finished school and were applying to the 2014 grads postings.

I am guessing you applied to the 2015 grad posting that popped up at the end of October. I check the job postings nearly every day. I don't graduate til 2016, but will be looking for a PCA/PCT job for my last year of school and like to see what the prospects look like.

Anyways, it looks like UVA changed how they do the hiring for new RNs in the last year or so. I think you used to submit it separately from the job postings site and now it's all through the same process as any other job with the health system.

Good luck with the process. I am sure you will have a job lined up in the next month or so. I've heard that all the UVA CNL grads who want to stay and work at UVA have no trouble getting jobs.

I'm not really sure when they're starting (I should have asked during my first interview). I applied as a new grad and got called for two interviews in early January.

To the folks that got positions or that are interviewing - are there any sign on bonuses for new grads? I didn't think there would be, but I also didn't think they would pay the travel costs for out of area new grads to visit either.

I hear ads on the radio saying they will pay 5K signing bonus and 5K relocation expense for experienced RNs. Trying to figure out if they do anything like that for new grads.

PVCCHoo, I can't answer your question directly, as I'm not a new grad, but I haven't heard of any of the bazillion new grads I work with getting sign on bonuses. UVA has an experienced nurse shortage, IMO, hence the bonuses you see advertised.
