  1. I did it through a new grad residency program
  2. My library had anatomical models, which helped me learn more than looking at pictures.
  3. Every third weekend (Sat-Sun)
  4. Just saying, I'm from Southern California. Graduated in May 2014 and got one or two interviews down there within 6 months. Applied out of state and started getting calls daily. I started a job on the east coast 8 months after graduation.
  5. It's going to take at least 3 months either way to get your license
  6. I got an email for the observation unit
  7. This upcoming cohort
  8. Sorry, I was talking about Kaiser SD
  9. It is not a group interview
  10. No problem. 1st semester: Fundamentals (Med/Surg I) 2nd semester: Med-Surg II 3rd semester: Peds OB 4th semester: Psych Community health Gerontology 5th semester: Critical care Leadership
  11. My first interview was a one-way video interview. It was terrible. It was really awkward staring at myself on the computer screen. There were a bunch of long pauses and I stuttered the whole time. I don't know how, but I went through to the second round of interviews. I didn't get the job though.
  12. Is this for Kaiser San Diego?
  13. The spring new grad programs open anywhere from October to December with start dates in February/March. A summer program might be better for you since you will still need to take the NCLEX. Applications will open around March with start dates in July/August. I would check the hospital's website frequently to see when they will post applications. The hospitals are Sharp, Scripps, Kaiser, UCSD, Tri City, and Alvarado.
  14. California is already super saturated with new grads so I wouldn't recommend it unless you are really serious about moving there
  15. 1) With the CA BRN you just have to keep calling them until you get a hold of someone. It can get frustrating, but keep calling. I have had luck with just emailing them my questions. 2) You can register to take the NCLEX in CA. I heard it's easier to do that because the process of endorsement for CA takes a very long time. 3) Southern CA is super saturated with new grads so it is difficult for them to get a position in an acute care setting. Your CNA experience may help you. You may also want to look into RN-BSN programs. 4) I'm doing the opposite. It only took a week for VA to process my paperwork but it has taken over 3 weeks (and counting) for CA to verify my license. Good luck! I love San Diego.
