UTT RN-MSN Online Program

I am considering applying to UT Tyler's RN-MSN program. Just wondering if anyone is currently enrolled or had any experience with them. Just wondering about the pace of the classes, if there are a lot of group projects, how do they arrange clinical sights and if the instructors are actually helpful? Thanks.

I started nursing school at Lamar in Beaumont, TX and transferred to UTT in Fall 2005. I had a 4.0 GPA in all my science courses, so I can only speak for myself as to what type of GPA it takes to get in. mjbsn is right -- the Tyler campus takes approx. 100 students each semester, unlike the 40 to 50 or so other colleges take. Like I said the BSN cirriculum is challenging, but it is a great program and partners with several good hospitals in the area for clinicals. As far as the NP program-- we had a professor speak in our Community class a couple of weeks ago about the NP program and she never made mention that UTT is trying to start their own program, however, I do recall her saying that the NP portion of the masters program is concluded thru TT. Might want to check with UTT regarding that -- maybe that is fixing to change!!

One of my friends/coworkers in the NP program told me her advisor told her about UTT wanting to get their own program. I didn't ask her any details, maybe they are just still in the talking/planning phase of it. I hope UTT does though b/c I would love to work with some of our NP's we had during BSN. They were great!! Take care!

Like Cardinal, I just graduated UTT's BSN program as well. The competition for the bachelor's I guess was pretty high. I went in with a 4.0 (certainly didn't graduate with one though...:rolleyes:).

Anyways, on to the master's program and its competition - I haven't really heard but...like I said, I just graduated, while my ending gpa wasn't a 4.0 it was over a 3.0; I called last week to see if I could take a few core courses prior to application and full admittance to their program and was told by the assoc. dean of the program, without hesitation or pause, NO!

She said the classes were so full that they didn't have any extra spaces at all for nondegree seeking students.

Thanks for all the great info! Like I said before, I am just starting out and will be at TJC for the ADN program this August. I just figured that it never hurts to think ahead!!! Congrats on your graduation also, Kelly. Good luck with your future~

Congratulations to you too, Blessed061987, on being accepted to the ADN program! It is not an easy program to get into; I wish you the best of luck.

And, yes, you are right to think ahead.
