UTSW Nurse Residency July 2023

Published

Greetings!

I am creating this post for those planning on applying for the UTSW Nurse Residency Program that will start July 2023. Feel free to chat, connect, or ask questions. Good luck to everyone!

Are there any other out-of-state people here planning on applying to UTSW? I wonder how many applications they get every cohort.

Hi, I am planning to apply in February for the residency program that starts July 2023. I am in-state and an internal employee. I will graduate with my ADN in May 2023. Plan to apply for OR if possible.

hi . I graduate in May 2023 and I plan on applying to ER. I    heard they get about 800 applications. I  am applying from out of state as well

Sorry - haven't checked this post in a while. Looks like we are finally getting some activity since the app opens in 5 days!

I'm planning on applying for their ICU residency, and looks like they changed the format of the application process recently.

@dj_gn Good luck on your OR application! How has your experience been working there as an internal employee?

@kaitc Sheesh, 800+ applications?! That's crazy. Where are you applying from? I'm from Chicago! Good luck on your ED application!

Thank you, good luck to you too! I love working there. Great management and benefits, which are two huge factors for me. What application changes have you seen? I didn't notice anything different when I looked earlier.

@dj_gn One of their recruiters posted a new flyer on LinkedIn. Instead of there being one application, there are now three (specialty, med/surg, and ambulatory).

Application opened today. I thought it will be opened tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

Yes, and they asked for two preferred units in each application.

@David8380 Yeah their application went live around 9:30 AM this morning. Good luck to you as well. What specialty are you going for?

Seems like most of the big hospitals in DFW open their nurse residency positions around the same time based on the other conversations I've seen. I'm from out-of-state so I wonder how people choose between THR vs. Parkland vs. Baylor vs. UTSW.

I acually applied for all three; speciality, med-surg, and ambulatory. I am hoping for ICU, but I am trying to be open for any speciality.
I applied for Childrens, THR, Baylor, and UTSW. Only one interview scheduled so far. (Baylor Plano, ICU). Baylor is my top one and UTSW is second.

I'll apply for UTSW tomorrow and have applied at Parkland, Baylor, THR, and Methodist. Had an interview at Parkland this week and have one scheduled for Baylor. I'm trying to get into OR. Good luck to us all!

How long did it take for you to schedule an interview for Parkland? I applied there little late, still waiting.

@David8380 Wow, all three?! Good for you. I applied for the specialty (ICU, ED) app. Perhaps we'll be coworkers! I'm interested in their CVICU/NSICU, so I'll be likely gunning for those.

@dj_gn Good luck man!
