UTMB Tradtional BSN Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone. I’m starting this thread to see how everyone’s status is going with their applications. I applied for Spring 2020 traditional BSN on 02/01/19. My transcripts were verified today 02/15/20. Does anyone know when I’ll receive the supplemental application?

For those who got accepted, I'm thinking about starting a group me.

I'm so excited for all of you but totally bummed out at the same time ?

NursingCAS totally screwed me on my GPA (they calculated in a bunch of remedial math classes from my first entry into college years ago that the transcript says explicitly NOT to calculate in) so i'm pretty much positive there isn't a snowball's chance in a hot tub i'm getting in. SUPER ANNOYED with NursingCAS but trying to be optimistic just for the fact that I have a back up and that's already a yes. still crossing my fingers that some sort of miracle transpires between now and June 20th ?

Did you get into BC and UTMB!?

Tanith Tracy Perkins, I got accepted into UTMB. BC rejected me and I honestly don't understand why ?

For those who have been accepted, what time was the email and can you share your stats? TIA!! And congrats to all of you!!!

Well that's a plot twist that makes no sense ?

Fingers crossed i make a miraculous recovery over this NursingCAS snafu and get into UTMB. I was accepted into BC but our info meeting is June 20th and classes start July 8th so i need to know one way or the other pretty quick, haha.

got my email at 3:43 pm today!

my stats are:

pre req GPA: 3.92

science GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 82%

i feel like my personal statement was the strongest part of my application. i had a previous english teacher help me write it.

I am trying to remember, I believe my GPA was 3.7ish overall? My science GPA was in the 3.4 range, and I got an 86.7 on the TEAS. My grades are a little lower but I feel like I showed them in my personal statement that I was able to overcome my younger days by graduating summa cum laude from University of Houston with my Bachelor’s in Human Resources. I think my experience (14 yrs) as an LVN and my burn icu and flight nursing in the US Army probably also helped show I could succeed despite the lower prerequisite GPA. That’s the only guess I have. Not sure but definitely happy to be in!! ??‍♀️

I asked UTMB Enrollment about the GPAs nursing CAS gives because it sinks my science GPA really bad because it takes into account sciences that have nothing to do with the sciences UTMB requires and the person who responded basically said something along the lines of that they do they’re own calculations of the GPAs they require so I’m assuming they”ll use whatever overall GPA Nursing CAS calculates but will calculate their own prerequisite gpa and science GPA. So maybe NursingCAS added it in but UTMB hopefully won’t. Not sure if this applies to the same situation ur referring to but hopefully it all works out!! Fingers crossed for you!!

I got accepted as well!!! CONGRATS EVERYONE... LET THIS NEW JOURNEY BEGIN!!!

Thanks! Sounds like a very similar situation! Unfortunately, I also called and was told the same thing. I called UTMB however and was told they definitely use the NursingCAS GPA and do not calculate their own even though I could swear I remember her saying they did when I went to the informational session. Oh well, we'll see what happens, I feel like maybe they'll have more than one round of admissions so fingers crossed. Good luck to you too!

What do you think made your personal statement so good? I was nervous writing mine, since i had no idea what to really include. I feel like mine was pretty well written, but i also don’t know what others included.
