UTMB Summer 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

I just wanted to start a group for those applying to UTMB nursing summer 2018 start! I didn't see a thread and figured there was some of us who could use one!

I have already taken my teas and will be submitting my application soon! This would be a great place for us to compare timelines and answer any questions I'm sure we all have! I look forward to hearing from other applicants.

I called them with the same question and nursingcas said to send the transcripts to UTMB directly and just send an email to them explaining you did not finish the class before the application deadline.

Really? I called UTMB and Burgundy answered the phone and she told me to send it to NCAS because until NCAS verifies everything UTMB has no idea who we are.

When I applied to UTMB for Spring 2018, I sent it to NCAS and NCAS updated my info after I took my summer classes. Then I requested an Academic Update/Verification...

Oh idk then! They told me they couldn't change anything since the cycle is ending tomorrow and they would have to have the transcript by tomorrow.

Oh, I see! I called earlier this summer so maybe it was different for me. I think you are right!

My transcripts were verified today and my GPAs calculated! How do I know when my application is sent to UTMB?

So... we DO send them to UTMB directly? Does anyone have the address? I can't seem to find it!

How did you verify it? Is there a special way to do it? Or does it verify when you submit? Also where does it show the GPA? I have been calculating on my own

So I emailed Ms. Botello the situation and what NursingCAS told me and she responded and said nothing can be done. She said the most important things are CUM GPA, TEAS score, and your personal statement. I put in my personal statement that I made an A in the course that won't be reflected on my application. Basically there's nothing we can do to get that course grade considered. :/

NursingCAS verifies everything for you. You'll get an email once everything is verified. About an hour or so after they are verified they will calculate your GPAs and it will be the last page in the green pages of your downloaded application.

Ahh I see. Thanks!!

For those of you who did the supplemental app and paid for it... how long did it take you to get the three emails with your MYSTAR info? I paid yesterday and still haven't received anything. I received a confirmation for the payment right after, but never anything for the MYSTAR stuff it said I'm suppose to get?

It took me about 3-4 days

Good morning all! I'm joining into this conversation a little late but I'm here now. So I'll start by beginning with the fact that I originally applied for Fall 2017 and didn't hear back about anything (denied, waitlisted, interview) for so long. Months and months. Eventually in about mid-May I got an email with the subject "Fall 2017 Waitlist Interview". The very first line of the email read "We are pleased to announce that you have been selected to interview for admission to the BSN Traditional Program for Fall 2017." Directly copied from the email. Anyways by reading that I personally got from it that I had already been on the waitlist and that I am now being taken off and being considered for a spot. Anyways I scheduled my interview for the closest date and was on my way. So I show up to the interview and right before your interviewer comes to meet you someone from the admissions office comes in to answer your questions. So we were talking and SHE TELLS ME THIS IS AN INTERVIEW TO BE ON THE WAITLIST. So I'm like "okay I'll just go home and apply for the spring as soon as possible". Keep in my mind I had not applied and was planning to until I received this email. She then says "well if you want to be considered you'll need to apply for Summer 2018. I asked why and she said "because the deadline for Spring 2018 was May 31st". GUESS WHAT! The date was June 1st :-) :-) :-) yeah just wonderful! Anyways I'm so sad at this point. I'm literally helpless. Also sidetone I also dug into the lady before about the waitlist and she said there are approximately 30 people on it per semester just FYI. So I have my interview and it goes wonderful, the interviewer and I connected so well and I felt amazing leaving. I get home and within the same week I find out I am placed on the waitlist. Of course I'm happy and I wait all summer holding onto what little hope I have that maybe, just maybe I'll get accepted for the fall. I applied for summer as soon as it opened and I'm just praying I will get accepted for the fall. I really wanted to start in the fall at this point because waiting until next summer (and not being in school) made me feel so sad and behind. Soooo now we're in the current day and I didn't make it off the waitlist. I'm now waiting for summer admissions (I don't need to interview because once you have one it's there forever unless you want to interview again) and praying so much that I'm offered a spot for the spring instead (they do this. It happened last spring and summer cycle. When they don't have enough spots/people they want they'll offer them to start a semester before if possible). While this is not a written rule, it has happened. And for the cherry on top, knowing that I was on the waitlist for the most competitive semester I would have easily made it in for the spring. Two of my friends with similar/even lower stats made it in for the spring and one of them forsure was on the waitlist for the fall with a significantly lower GPA.

SO, my overall takeaways are please, please, please apply for the next semester no matter your circumstances (especially if waitlisted). Also it's nice to know that they consider things other than just your GPA and test scores and that they really do take the time to read your personal statements. Also if you guys have questions about anything I'll try to answer to the best of my ability and sorry for the long essay I just want to be able to educate you guys on the process because a lot of the time you'll feel in the dark and it really does suck and what sucks even more is the I'll probably have to wait an additional 1-2 weeks to hear back on top of what Ms. Botello told me was about 2 more weeks until they started on the summer apps. Of course I can't complain and my heart deeply aches for those impacted by Harvey. I'll wait as long as I need because well, that's all I've been doing for months :)
