UTMB Summer 2017

Hi future nurses! I didn't see a discussion board for the summer term of 2017, so I decided to make one myself(: Let's use this forum to discuss grades, TEAS, and the application process. This does include venting! We all know how anxiety kicks in when there's a bump in the road. Good luck to everyone that is applying!

I can't wait for the application period opens. Anyone that is re-applying, any tips?

I honestly dont remember my stats since I applied so long ago!

They were pretty average. I dont think there is a system to how they pick people, I think they base it off of your personal statement, and overall scores. I know that I have all As in my science classes besides Microbiology which im taking now so that might have helped. I believe my GPA overall is 3.76.

They stressed at the open house that if you do not have at least a 75% in each section of the TEAS it is going to be hard to even get looked at.

We both had well above a 75% on the TEAS and I believe she had a 90% overall on TEAS. She was waitlisted for Spring so they would definitely consider her for Summer she just hasn't heard yet. I didn't know if anyone else was in the same situation? They said her interview for Spring was great so she didn't need another one but they have yet to notify her.

wow,90 teas got waitlisted. Just call them and confirm it maybe wrong email address or something else. I called them and confirmed my email address.

Howdy! I applied to utmb for fall '17 and I'm just trying to get an idea of how the whole process works. If you get an interview do they just email you or are you somehow notified through nursingCAS. Also, how long after the application deadline did y'all have to wait until you were notified about getting an interview? Thank you!!

They will email you through email. NursingCAS is only for the application. Some people have waited 3 weeks and some people are still getting called for interviews and the semester starts in May!

Has anyone tried calling? I've emailed Mrs. Botello at the beginning of the week & no reply. I've also called & it goes straight to voicemail.

I had my intervew yesterday. It went very well but my TEAS scores I'm afraid are just a little too low. I took it only once and kind of zipped through it thinking I was doing great, but my composite score was 78. Hopefully I can retake it and send new results ASAP, planning to call Ms. Botello on Tuesday to see if that would be possible. My GPA is like 3.4 so that's okay. They liked my personal statement as well. If that stupid TEAS test hold me back, lol... ugh.. I worked hard to get this far for that one bombed test to ruin it. I really hope they will accept a second try on it this late in the game.

Also frustrating knowing my composite score for the HESI was 91! If only they looked at that instead....
