UTMB Summer 2021 Applicants

Published

Hi all!

Haven't seen a thread for UTMB Summer 2021 applicants, so I figured I'd start here. I'm hoping to wrap up my application soon pending a TEAS retake to edge it just a little bit higher. I also need to fine-tune my resume and personal statement.

Hey guys! I plan on applying to UTMB for Fall 2021. So im a bit worried about applying for utmb because I do not have any healthcare experience besides attending virtual shadowing sessions. So far, I have all As in my nursing pre-reqs and plan to study for the TEAS test during the month of December and take it January. Would I still have a change of getting in if my GPA and test scores are good and my personal statement is decent?

dpaul,

If I could give advice from what I've learned in this process:

Apply EVERYWHERE you want. It can be costly, but this is your future and how will you know if you don't try? I also have very minimal healthcare experience (shadowing and some volunteer work) and was placed on the waitlist for Summer 2021. Work hard on your TEAS exam. If you receive a good score I don't see why you wouldn't be a competitive applicant. Good Luck!

I would absolutely still apply! I got accepted and I don’t have any previous healthcare experience. If you do well on your TEAS test, have a decent GPA, and work hard on your personal statement, I think you have a really good chance of getting in!

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back anything yet?

I am still on the waitlist!

I’m still waitlisted as well

I actually just received an acceptance email this evening! Check your emails! ❤️

@Morgan24

do you mind sharing your stats? I’m losing my mind checking my e-mail and UTMB portal.

@LexieGrey

Of course!

Overall GPA 3.5

Pre-req GPA 3.36

Science Pre-req GPA 3.7

TEAS 87

I have a BS in Psychology and I think my personal statement really helped.

Hey guys!
I’ve been put on the waitlist, I was notified on 10/27/2020. Since then, I’ve received another e-mail for fingerprints. Has anyone been moved off the waitlist to being admitted? Does anyone have any tips during this waiting time? I’m starting to lose my mind from checking my e-mail and portal every day.

Hey, so I was looking for something for a friend who got admitted and saw you comment! First of all congratulations on making the waitlist, that's still a huge accomplishment! You might be discouraged because you didn't in, but I've met SO MANY people in my cohort who were taken off the waitlist (including myself), so don't lose hope!

I got taken off the waitlist for fall of 2020 four weeks before the first day of school and it was quite stressful, and I know a couple of people who were taken off even later than I was! I would definitely look online and/or if you know someone who got in, ask them for a copy of the new student orientation papers with what you need to do and start getting things done. Go ahead and get your vaccinations and titers done because you''ll need those no matter where you go! It was hard for me to get into doctors and get everything done (especially with COVID).

See what needs to be done and try to get as much as you can get done, so when you do get taken off the waiting list you have less to worry about and you can just focus on starting classes!

Hi everyone! I wanted to update that even though my application had been "Complete" for a long time, I was removed off of the waitlist on Tuesday (11/17). I happened to check my portal on that day and got the acceptance email a few hours later. Don't give up hope! I was really thinking I had been denied because I didn't get the waitlist email but I happened to get an acceptance!

I had thought maybe my stats were not enough since I was stuck on "Complete" but do not give up hope! I had already accepted to Texas Woman's University and did not want to risk my GPA on an accelerated program and relocate to Galveston, so I declined my offer. I plan to stay active on allnurses so if there are any questions, I'm happy to answer!
