UTMB Spring 2016

Published

Howdy! I couldn't find a thread for Spring 2016, so I figured I would start my own. I'm having trouble with this whole application thing (mostly stress!), so I would love to talk to others going through this same process!

Yes! Thanks both of you for helping!

Mkar, whar sort of things did they ask you?

i'm sure it went better than you think :)

@Dfalck3 I was asked why I want to be a nurse, what my study habits are like, what I'm currently doing, and she asked me to tell her a little bit about myself.

They would probably interview until the deadline and until they get the number of candidates they are satisfied with. If they reached that magic number sooner, they would stop interviewing sooner. I am sure they also consider that some people will bail out if UTMB is their 2nd choice and they get accepted to 1st choice school before the end of the year. There is no set number of interviews. But let's assume the acceptance rate after interviews is about 90-95%, pretty high. With 120 people they need, this means they need to interview about 135-140 people (rough math). How they divide it between June 1 and whatever their internal deadline is to notify all applicants depends on faculty availability to do interviews, staff availability to process applications, etc. These are just my fair assumptions of the process... I really do not think that knowledge of it is going to make you worry less or more about your application to the school. Even though you know how it all works you still worry the same, so what's the point? Throw in your application and relax.

You also have to keep in mind those of us that we're waitlisted for fall and accepted for spring, because that takes away from the total of 120 or 140 what ever they decide.

For those of you that got wait listed for this fall, what were your stats if you don't mind sharing.

To clarify some things. There are 4 groups of interviews. They aren't based on when you turned in your application, from what I could tell when I applied they are based on strength of the candidate.

The numbers I was told are: 600-700 applicants, 300-400 qualify to be considered, 200-300 interviews, and 120+ get selected for admission. Denial letters got sent out pretty quick for my class. So as long as you haven't received one, then you are still being considered.

Several people I know who were being waitlisted were just admitted for fall.

Hey everyone! For those who were accepted already did anyone receive the packet of information from UTMB about your acceptance, the ADA statement and courses that you still need before the program starts? If so, if we already accepted and paid our fee online do we need to mail anything back?

I was told they needed to be mailed in addition to accepting online and paying fee. I hope my forms made it by the deadline.

I had my interview yesterday. She was really easy to talk with, and it was comfortable. She asked me similar questions previously mentioned in other posts. My best advice is to have questions you can ask. It kept the conversation flowing. Good luck! I hope you all do great! :)

I recently received this email from Dora turner the administrative coordinator. I received it after sending her a copy of my board of nursing blue card by email. I wonder if this means admissions are put on hold until she returns.

This was the email I'm not sure why it posted weird the first time.

When did you get your fingerprints done? I am curious how long it took to get the blue card.
