UTMB Spring 2010

Published

Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.

Hey everyone! I actually had an interview today (on the phone) since I will not be in Texas on Friday. I thought you guys might want to know some of the questions that were asked.

Here are the questions I remember

1. Why do you want to be a nurse?

2. Why do you want to go to UTMB

3. How will you financially pay for this program

4. What is your best quality that is an asset to being a nurse

5. How do you feel about working with people of different ages/race

6. What will you do if you get a "D" and have never gotten a "D" before

7. What/How is your support system

8. What do you do now

9. How do you deal with conflict

10. If you applied to three schools and got into all of them how will you choose

thanks caseytate! good luck to you! when will you know their decision?

Is this still for BACC2? I think it would be better for them to do over the phone interviews from now because it will to make it more convenient and speed up the process!

thanks jazzynurse 2b and ms sealy. This process provoked a lot of anxiety. I will cross my fingers for all of you who applied to BACC2 and hope to see you all.

has anybody for the generic program heard about interviews yet? UTMB is really behind all the other schools in this area...

I wish I had heard about the Generic program. I emailed them yesterday and still haven't heard back. I just can't figure out what the heck takes them so long!!! I'm becoming extremely frustrated with this whole process. We applied 5 months ago and we haven't heard anything?! It seems so crazy. I wish I had the comfort of knowing I had a set plan for the Spring...even if it was that I just have to work and apply to nursing schools for next fall because I didn't get in. I am checking my email like CRAZY! Ughhhhhh I might pull my hair out from the frustration!

Ok, so I just got a phone call from UTMB and they lady said she was calling to tell me I was missing classes!! I was like WOAH, nooooo way. I have over 75 hours under my belt and all for a science degree so there's not any possible way I'm missing classes. So she said they didn't have me down for A&P2 (which I'm currently taking), Nutrition (which I took this past summer), Electives (which I have taken probably 5 or 6 between Blinn and San Jac), Statistics (which I took last Spring) and an elective science (which I took my first semester in college). I was FREAKING OUT! And then after telling her all the semesters I took them in, she said "Oh! I see them! I can now send you application through" Um...HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THOSE CLASSES! Lol, I was so confused...it didn't make sense to me at all. Really? 5 classes they had me down as missing?! At least she called to make sure they got it fixed. I'm like shaking I'm so scared now! I was so scared that I didn't even get to ask when they'd start interviewing for generic program!! AH!!! Oh well, at least they fixed my application and now I will be put back in the pool of eligible applicants. I hope they don't do that to other people as well. Ok, I'm done venting...I was just really frustrated lol.

WOW, KatieLou...I'm glad they at least took the time to call! I can see how they could have just said "oh well she's not qualified" and tossed your application aside. I emailed about the Generic program on Monday. I'll let ya'll know when I get a response.

 i'm glad she called, but....come on! how could she not see those courses...this can't be her first rodeo! i will be shaking in my boots if they do that to me......the good news is.....it sounds like you are gonna be one of the first to interview katielou!

and you were just wishing to hear from utmb yesterday!

omg..my phone just rang and my heart dropped!

Thank you so much for helping me see the brighter side of things. I'm hoping that I will hear from them soon on interviewing. I know how you feel, when my phone rang this morning I was thinking to myself, should I get up from studying to answer it or just stay in my concentration zone (I have an anatomy test in 30 minutes). But I got up anyways thinking it could be them, and sure enough my caller ID said University Texas Medical Branch. I was shaking!! Maybe next time they call they will have better news like...HEY YOU GOT IN..or WERE READY TO INTERVIEW YOU! lol doubtful, but one can dream. Always answer your phone is the moral of my story haha :)

Hey..your wish from yesterday came true.....let's see how fast today's wish happens! Kick butt on your A&P test!

Hey you guys, are you'll going to use just loans to pay for school or scholarships? Just curious, because I am having a hard time finding scholarships and grants.
