UTMB Spring 2010

Published

Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.

I will know if I got into UT Houston before I probably get an interview at UTMB...I almost have to laugh. This is a little crazy. Thank God I applied to another school because I would be freaking out right now!!!! FYI UT Houston is my first choice. If they do decide to offer me a slot I will retract my application to make a slot for someone else. I have a 4.0 and 9 yrs med experience so I am pretty sure UTMB will offer me one and I would hate to take that slot for anyone. Stay patient guys...this process sucks BIG TIME and everyones nerves are on edge. I got into a tiff with someone on the UT Houston blog so dont feel bad. For some this process is easy and for some it has been a nightmare.

I think she's saying if you didn't get chosen for the Accerlerated program your application is placed in the traditional program applicant pool,so would would now be considered apart of our pool to be interviewed that day if you are selected. The BACC2 should be already concluding their interviews for that program I think soon,so Nov 6th is the start of our traditional bsn interview process so if your chosen for an interview for that program then u will be contacted. How many ppl are they letting into the BACC2 30?

Thank you all for stalking UTMB...that saves me a lot of trouble lol. I feel like I've sent them a thousand emails already. It's good to know other people are going to the same measures as me to get things going. Thank you emag for considering retracting your application if you get into UTHSC...and I'm sure you will...a 4.0!!! That's amazing!!! I applied to UTHSC but didn't get an interview. I was told by some people there that a 3.5 isn't good enough to get into the program....so no biggie. I'm still hoping UTMB gives me a chance!!! I have no clue what to do if I don't get in...I don't want to go get a degree in something I won't use or don't need and I don't know how I'm going to afford taking a semester off because I'll lose my loans. Is anyone a CNA? I was thinking about getting certified if I don't get in and workin a little. How much do they pay? And how easy is it to get a job with a CNA while I'm waiting to get into nursing school?

CNA's made around $10/hr give or take when I used to work at the hospital. You do a lot of grunt work...the stuff nurses dont want to do. Like helping people use the rest room, bed pans, etc. You will learn a ton but be prepared for some not so pleasant experiences. If you get in at a good hospital the grunt work isnt so bad. If you work at a nursing home.....get ready...LOL. Its a great stepping stone though. Hopefully it wont come to that and you will get into UTMB. Thanks for being so confident I will get into UTHSC....because I AM NOT!!! 1000 apply. 300 got an interview. 80 get in. Those odds are terrible so who knows. I pray every night I am good enough fro them but we will see. I should know by Nov 15th

Yeah, I already have a backup plan too if I don't get into the school of my choice, I have a 4.0 GPA,but I don't have a lot of experience in the med field either. Every nursing school wants something different so it's like you don't even feel a high GPA is enuff these days. I consider UTHSC at first, but it just wasn't was just not for me, nursing school is hectic enuff and jamming it into 1 and a half semesters is pretty ridiculous.

Actually it's hard to get a CNA job in the hospital without any experience. If you really wanna do it,when u get certified look into nursing home since they are usually short staffed and are willing to train. The start pay in most beginners are about 9 an hr,but it's a lot of work for the buck, but the good thing is that it will help u gain skills working with patients.

Were you applying to the accelerated or something because both UTMB abd UTHSC are 4 semesters. They take the exact same time to finish

It's not really even that, the school just isn't for me. They do a semester in the summer for the spring start, at TWU and I think at UTMB they take a break in the summer now. UTMB used to be like that before the pushed the summer start to spring this time around.

see thats what I like about it.....I just wanna get started and keep going with no breaks and be done with it. But yeah I am sure I wont be saying that half way through :) I am glad you have a back up to suit your needs. Are you going to retract your application from UTHSC? If you dont mind me asking whwat was your GPA and Net again?

That was initially why I applied but, but then I didn't like it because I'm ganna need a break! lol. I retracted my application a long time ago like during the summer. My GPA is a 4.0 overall. I had about a 88 composite score.

how did you do in both the reading and math....were you invited for an interview or did you retract before that?

92 math, 85 reading comp. I retracted it during the summer, before the interviews started.

Mau00 I believe they are letting 60 into the Bacc2 program. :D
