Hi I know it's a few months early, but have anyone started getting their application/essay ready to apply to UTMB for 2019? Lol I'm nervous looking at blogs from previous years. I'm also scared to take the TEAS. I plan on applying for Summer 2019.

Hey Leslie, here we are again, lol. Stinks that you still haven't heard anything for Fall yet. I can't believe it's taking this long.

Hey there, returning from the Fall 2018 forum! I was denied for Fall w/o an interview so I am praying for a different outcome this time around. I retook my TEAS and did much better and have added 2 As to my GPA. I also revamped my statement and some of my answers to the questions. I think I really rushed through it last time and didn't write as well as I could. I did not add my resume last time either, so I made sure to add it this time. I think that makes a difference in your overall picture as well. So hopefully these are positive changes. I noticed that my app was verified right away, I guess because I was reapplying. It took forever last time. Let the waiting begin guys!
What was your initial TEAS score that didn't get you in? I wonder what the average TEAS score for UTMB is, does anyone know?
I took it twice and each time I scored below 60% on 1 category. All others were fine. So I retook it because I needed to do well in all subjects in a single attempt. My last TEAS for fall admit was a 72% overall and my most recent was 78% overall, with my lowest subject being 72%. I now feel I am much more competitive. On the UTMB site is says that to be considered competitive, you should have 60% or higher on each section of the TEAS.
Actually its says to be comeptitive applicant you should have no less than a 75 on a subject í ½í¸³. My lowest is also a 72 in reading. But yeah I heard If you have anything less than a 70 they'll ask you to retake. My friend had a 66% on a subject and they asked her to retake it she didn't and we'll didn't get accepted :/ I don't think it was solely for that though.

Where do you see that at? Is there another part? This is the only thing I see...

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
All applicants for the Traditional BSN program are required to take the TEAS exam. The results of this assessment are included in the overall evaluation of your application for admission. This test can be scheduled through the ATI website and must be completed by the application deadline. We recommend that applicants take A&P I and II prior to taking the TEAS; additional study/review materials to prepare for the TEAS can also be found on the ATI website.
The TEAS exam is multiple choice and covers the following:
Reading - paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions
Math - whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion
Science - science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles, and general science
English and Language Usage - punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling
In order to be considered as a competitive applicant, we require a score of 60% or higher in each section of the TEAS test.
There are various test preparations materials on the ATI TEAS Test Prep.
An example of the composite, Individual Performance Profile page required as part of the application can be found here.

They have a file where it says how to be a competitive student
"ï‚· The results of this assessment are included in the overall evaluation of your application for admission, so it is VERY IMPORTANT to study before taking the test. Historically, a composite score of 75% or above as well as a 75% or above in each section has been competitive".

The bar has been going higher and higher.
Wow, I have never seen that. There are plenty that get in with lower so we shouldn't drive ourselves crazy with it. Thankfully they consider sooo much more than test scores!

What does Overall GPA mean? Every class, ever taken or the Overall GPA of the 60 Required hours? I already have a BS degree and my overall GPA is a 3.07 but if I only count the 60 prerequisite hours is more like a 3.4
I have no idea how they come up with their GPA; I have always wanted to know. Mine is quite a bit lower as well.
How does the School of Nursing determine if an applicant will
receive an offer of admission?
ï‚· Three GPA's are reviewed for the BSN Program: Science GPA, Prerequisite GPA,
and Overall GPA. These three GPA's are equally important components of your
application. Historically, a competitive applicant has earned a GPA of 3.0 or
above in each area.
ï‚· Your transcript is reviewed for the number of repeated courses, withdrawals, and
failures. A competitive applicant will have repeated no more than two
prerequisites, and a prerequisite may only be repeated once. Repeated courses
do not replace the original grade in your cumulative GPA. A competitive
applicant will have no more than three withdrawals throughout their academic
career and limited failures.
ï‚· Your Personal Statement provides an opportunity to showcase yourself as an
individual. Include any healthcare related experience, work experience, your
rationale for choice of profession, scholastic honors, leadership roles, cultural
experiences, community service, and extracurricular activities. This also serves as
an opportunity to detail any life events that affected your academic record.
Please explain any interruptions or breaks in your education. This is a time to
address both the strengths and weaknesses of your application.
Am I required to take any standardized tests before entering the
BSN Program?
ï‚· All applicants for the Accelerated and Traditional BSN programs are required to
take the TEAS V test (Test of Essential Academic Skills, version V). This test was
created by ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute).
