UTMB Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

The application process has just gotten under way for UTMB spring admission. Has anyone taken the TEAS tests? Any helpful hints on getting a high score?

I accepted my offer today since I haven't heard from UT health. I will be commuting from Houston. Is there anyone else that has been accepted that will be commuting and is interested in carpooling??

meg87, I'm so sorry about your rejection email. Don't lose hope as I've heard people that got denied ended up being called last minute because somebody failed to show up to orientation. Another best option would be to apply for ADN/RN program at a community college. Several of my friends have done this and ended up doing the bridge BSN. Just a thought but don't give up!

llucas11, have you thought about what you would do if UTHSC accepts you?

I'm not sure what I would do. I will contact UTMB if that does happen and then go from there.

llucas11, November 15th is only seven days away...if that helps.

@ meg87 don't give up if you feel this is your passion there are many different avenues you could take. I wasn't accepted either because I didn't take the right chemistry class that matches my lab yes I was devastated at first but Had to pray and go back to the drawing bored and now i'm applying to an ADN program going to take the class that I needed and reapply to UTMB and TWU for spring 2015 if all works out then i'll be right on time if it doesn't then back to the drawing board I go. Failure is a major part of success don't give up just regroup and come up with a master plan it's going to be ok hun believe me I know how you feel but God has a plan for you, you just can't get discouraged or give up, Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

@ meg87. Everything happens for a reason. You have a bright future ahead of you. Stay strong and remember that there is light at the end of every tunnel. Focus on what next and pour your energy into that next option.

@llucas11 even though you accepted UTMB you can withdraw your acceptance if you get into UTHSC. Just keep preparing (cpr, immunizations etc) because you need those for any nursing school.

@meg87 do not give up hope. Take a step back and look at all your options. Can you get into a program at a different community college or university? At the open house I think they said there are about 20+ different nursing programs in Houston. If this is what you really want then keep trying!

@meg87- I am very sorry that you did not get accepted. Definitely do not give up, if nursing is your passion! When I lived in Baton Rouge I applied to the ADN program 3 times and didn't get in until the third time. However, I chose to move to Shreveport to get more work experience as a medical assistant with a doctor that was moving from Baton Rouge to Shreveport. I worked for 2 years with him. Got some great valuable work experience, and had to move to Houston bc of my boyfriends job. I was determined to finally start my nursing school path. I had to retake 4 of my major science courses just to get the lab credit. Studied for the TEAS and HESI and was finally accepted. My point is, don't give up! I am 25 and finally starting. My advice to you is to maybe get some valuable work or volunteer experience in the medical field. This was one my selling points in my personal statement and my interview. It definitely helped!:)

for those who needs Titer for immunization Baylor college of medicine is doing it for free. Only for hep B and C. 6620 Main Street, Suite 1505 (Baylor Clinic), Houston, TX 77030. MON - THURS.

FYI: I saw some people on this post applied to UTH as well and were waiting for a response. I applied their as well and my application on myUTH just changed. It changed to a yellow triangle which I think means the wait list.

today was a tough choice but I gave up my seat to do TWU instead... those of you who are hopeful well I HOPE YOU guys get in. UTMB has a wonderful ocean view/ breeze and their staff is AMAZING with warm caring hearts. Its been a long journey and the acceptance was heart felt but there are obstacles to overcome it was a hard decision and I really do hope by not accepting I can increase your chances of getting in (not trying to be cocky...) but all in all thank you guys for the support and information through this forum. Hopefully I will met yall one day in the Med center and you will see how goofy and daring a person like me is like.

AS for the two girls who went to the 1 pm interview on THURSDAY. KEEP CALM and I really wish you the BEST!!!!!!! YOU GOT THIS!!

What made you decide to choose TWU? Nothing personal as I know every person has their own reasons but I'm curious. I passed by their campus at the Med Center the other day and it didn't even know it was there. It looked really nice from the outside.
