Hello,
Would like to connect with everyone who has applied to UTMB-FNP program for Fall 2017.
Let me know where are you in the process.
I have applied and just finished the supplemental application . Now waiting on the decision
Thanks
I'm leaning towards UTMB I think. I've talked to NPs who recently graduated from both programs. UTMB requires less time on campus. They both make you find your own preceptors (even though UTMB's website says otherwise). UTMB has a very high board pass rate, and quite frankly, I've heard much better things about their instructors. That said, there apparently is a shake up going on at UTHSC regarding instructors. I haven't decided for sure yet though. Good luck on your interview!
I am in the same boat in San Antonio. I applied to UTHSC in SA and am waiting on my interview, but I went ahead and accepted at UTMB because I only had 2 weeks. If I get accepted to both, it will be a tough decision! I feel confident about UTMB because I have heard so many positive things about their program and I already have a family practice doctor in line as a preceptor. Reading posts like yours makes me even more confident.
I wonder when I'll hear something. I had all my stuff in and completed by November 18. My grades are all good, GPA 3.46, my personal statement was well written and I haven't heard a thing yet. I spoke to Ned at the beginning of January and he said (at that point) they had only met once to discuss/ review applications. He said they are suppose to be reviewing them in the order they were submitted, so, hopefully soon!

Did you do your supplemental application and pay the additional application fee?

I am not sure how many they admit each cycle, but I would think you could e-mail Ned Pucek and ask him, he is the admissions coordinator, here is his contact information:
