Hi,

Thanks for starting this thread. I have submitted my application to NCAS but its taking a while to verify my transcripts. Did it take a while for you too?

Hey Guys!

I applied at midnight on November 1st. It took a few days for my transcripts to be verified, I filled out the supplemental application. After a few more days, I received an email about how to login and check the status of the application. All that was done in November and I have been checking everyday since. No notices of acceptance or Denial yet. Probably wont hear anything until January. I believe school is out until the New Year.

I just got an acceptance for Fall 2017, I am in the New Braunfels area.

Carylene, how did they contact you? Email? Letter or on the website?

on my email, then I went to my star and saw that I had an accepted in the application section. The email was to my personal email, but they said a written letter was in the mail as well. The e-mail was from [TABLE=class: ajC]

Congrats! I'll keep an eye out for emails! Mine still says "complete", so I'll keep hoping! *fingers crossed*

may I ask, are you in the Galveston area? what drew you to UTMB? I am in New Braunfels, I wonder how hard it is to have them negotiate the preceptor contract once I find a preceptor.

I live in Houston. From what I understand, as long as you do the paper work and find your own preceptor, your good to go.

Hi everyone, congrats on your potential acceptance. I graduated from UTMB Galveston for my BSN and the start of my MSN so I have a bit of experience and knowledge regarding acceptance and also the preceptor experience. When accepted to both programs I received an email with preliminary acceptance and a follow up letter for confirmation. For both programs you are responsible for lining up your own preceptors, though the school does have a list of preceptors in various areas of the state and others, it is ultimately your responsibility. I found choosing mentors or reaching out to other people or healthcare providers for suggestions is a good place to start. Then verify with the school if your requested preceptor or their employer are on the approved list and if not it is important to get the contract signed by your mentor and then back to the school for review. It will take a little while for the approval to go through and you definitely want to find out far in advance so there are no surprises or losses in your clinical time.

Oh and another possible contact for finding preceptors is the NP/PA Facebook group that will allow you to keep in contact and ask questions of other current providers or upcoming providers.

I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you in class in the Fall of 2017.

Thank you for the reply, Aubeangel704, the information helps a lot. I applied to several programs and this is my first acceptance and I will have to accept or decline before I hear from any of the other programs.
