Hello,
Would like to connect with everyone who has applied to UTMB-FNP program for Fall 2017.
Let me know where are you in the process.
I have applied and just finished the supplemental application . Now waiting on the decision
Thanks
kcna17- what area are you in? I also dont care for peds, but I'm scared to be stuck in one area for the rest of my career. There are a few FNP's that work in my hospital and I'm not sure if i would be able to do that with AGNP especially since its not acute care AGNP. I feel like AGNP is limited to working in nursing homes and doctor's office which idk if i am ready for that coming from acute care. Its a tough choice for me.
-Proudtobeanurse: Congrats! have you always wanted to do agnp? where do you plan to work after you graduate?

Adult gerontology Primary Care Degree will allow you to treat adolescents , adults and geriatrics. The degree was changed i believed in 2013 and so it is no longer only for geriatrics. In my hospital there are many agpncp who see patients in the outpatient clinic as well as in the inpatient setting just like the FNPs, This degree is no longer only for geriatrics patients like it used to be.
if you re interested in acute like ICU or ER you may not be able to do it with this degree not even with the FNP, you would have to be specialized in acute care. But if you re interested in the outpatient setting, or in hospitals along as is not an acute floor, you should be able to do it with this degree.
