UTMB Fall 2017

Hi everyone!

I cannot believe it's actually time for me to apply to nursing school. It seems like I've been working on my pre-reqs forever now and it's finally here. I didn't see any utmb 2017 fall hopefuls yet so I thought I'd create a thread. I'm having one heck of a time with the application process. I'm taking my teas next Wednesday and submitting my application after that. Has anyone sent in their transcripts through nursingCAS yet? Anyone have any pre-reqs they still need to complete? I have one last semester to finish. Good luck to everyone applying this semester!

I was at the Open House last Friday and they said:

Spring is 600 applicants: 132 spots

Fall is 750-800 applicants: 132 spots

Summer 300 applicants : 90 spots

Does anyone know how many applications they usually receive for the fall term, and how many spots they have to fill?

Summer 300 applicants : 90 spots

They also said that Fall is usually more competitive because the Honor's program only admits once/yr. And they mentioned about 200 applicants get asked for interviews although some can get admitted without an interview.

Thanks for letting us know! Did they by any chance say whether they look at overall or prerequisite GPA more?

They never said which one was weighted more. One student said that she was wait-listed then admitted with a 3.1 GPA. At the time I just assumed it was overall but it might have been prerequisite or science.The official fancy admissions lady stressed that the TEAS score and the personal statement were important. Somebody probably already posted this but just in case here's what UTMB considers competitive maybe this'll help:

Does anyone know if you meet the qualifications for the Honors program if you have a better chance at getting into the regular program?

I think that if you qualify they give you early admission without an interview and then encourage you to apply to the honors program.

Thanks, that is what I am hoping! I wonder how many people meet the qualifications for the honors program in the fall? Seems like that would take up most of the regular spaces.
