UTMB FALL 2015

Published

Hello everyone! I think it's finally time for someone to start a fall thread so here it goes. I am applying to UTHSC and UTMB for fall semester. I gave my teas test today and idk if that score is good enough or not. My GPA is 4.0 and teas individual score is 81. How did everyone else do in their test?

Fingers crossed... I'm literally going nuts :( Though still taking prereqs. But just cannot concentrate...

It looks like they are about three weeks later than last year in sending out initial interview requests due to the extended time for the summer evaluation. Supposedly they meet today for the last time for summer class. I pray that they also start to review fall applicants. Hoping that we start to hear something soon

Good luck to all!

going crazy here!! I hope they look at the applications in the order they came in

Oh I hope not because I had to wait to complete some classes and mine got kicked back because of a transcript discrepancy. However I would love to hear something!!

Does anyone know how many applicants there are for fall? Has anyone been to the last open house?

I went to the Open House on the 13th. :)

They went over basic information about the school/applying that you can find on the website. Here's some additional information they covered:

-For Fall, there are usually around 800 applicants (the reason the number is so high is because NCAS allows you to select multiple schools to send your info to. People send their application to UTMB with no real interest in actually attending the school). Out of those, around 300 - 400 are qualified. They have 120 seats for the nursing program in the Fall, however they can accept more than that (for Fall 2014, 135 people were accepted).

-About TEAS V scores: Scores are a very important part of your application. When asked what a "good" TEAS score was, the lady at the open house said to think of it like getting a grade on a test. The closer to 100, the better. If you have a strong application but low scores, UTMB sometimes requests that certain people retake the TEAS or a section of it.

-About GPAs: Yes, it's possible to get accepted with a lower GPA, but having a 3.5+ GPA is an advantage. Don't fret if your GPA isn't stellar though; they understand that life happens. Explain why your GPA is what it is in your personal statement.

-About Personal Statements: Your personal statement is the time to show UTMB that you're more than just scores on a piece of paper. Use this opportunity to explain WHY you want to be a nurse (don't just say "because I want to help people", really put thought into what made you decide to pursue nursing). Be sure to discuss any past experiences or hardships.

-About the Honors Program: You have to be selected to apply. A current student at the Open House said the Honors students got accepted without an interview and have outstanding stats.

After the information session, there was a Campus Tour. Even though there's a lot of construction going on outside, the inside of the buildings are really nice. The people at the school were incredibly friendly. The coolest part was being able to see the sim lab. It looks just like a hospital on the inside. There, nursing students practice on dummies (there's even some that sweat!).

I'm looking forward to hearing news about Fall 2015! :)

Wow! Thank you so much for all the info!

Hello everyone!! I'm new to this and I'm so excited that I found this website. I've applied for fall 2015 too but I received an email about summer saying that they are extending their summer applicants. I had my interview last Thursday. I still haven't heard back and hope I will hear something soon.

@mvanessa did you have the interview for fall or summer?

@ jskogan For summer

Did anyone else get an email today asking for fingerprinting to be done before being admitted and enrolled in classes?

No...Haven't received anything since my mystar acct at beginning of month!
