UTMB FALL 2015

Published

Hello everyone! I think it's finally time for someone to start a fall thread so here it goes. I am applying to UTHSC and UTMB for fall semester. I gave my teas test today and idk if that score is good enough or not. My GPA is 4.0 and teas individual score is 81. How did everyone else do in their test?

I replied to the early start email on the 29th, but i haven't received an email like you did today. hopefully they got it, and will still be considered.

I replied right after I received the original email on 1/27.

No problem. I am in the same boat as you. UTMB is the only school I applied to, so I'm really hoping I have a chance. One of my friends had a 3.5 GPA and 87 on her TEAS and the other one had a 3.3 overall and 81 on her TEAS, so that gives me some hope. :) I don't know about the 3rd friend. I think her stats were high all around. It really depends on the applicant pool each semester, and I'm praying to God that everything will work out in the end. Remember that your personal statement is very important as well, so it should help you out. I will be graduating with a Bachelors degree in May, but like I said, I don't think they really look at that too much. I wouldn't retake the TEAS for now if I were you because I think they've already received your score and a 71 is really not too bad. They have had people with TEAS scores in the 60s get accepted.

Yeah m.noel12,

I'm sure not the ENTIRE class have a 3.5 GPA and 85 or higher on the TEAS; I mean they must let SOME lower stats go through....... Or maybe I'm just trying to give myself some reassurance lol

Anyhow, you're right. It all depends on the pool of applicants, and who they choose to interview. I mean an interview can get you chosen over someone with a 4.0 GPA and 98% TEAS from what I've heard and seen.

I'm hoping for the best! :)

Hello, @Mr.Nurse0913

My stats:

Cummulative GPA: 3.26

Science GPA: 3.4

TEAS: 72%

This is also the only school I applied to. Since my GPAs and TEAS aren't all that great, I am hoping that my personal statement shows what kind of person I am overall. I really have a passion for nursing so I am hoping that it shows through my statement.

I think that you being a guy does not hurt your chance at all. If anything, I think it makes you more of a candidate.

I have been so nervous throughout this entire application process because of my statistics. But it's nice to know that there are other people in a similar situation.

Good luck to you!! :)

jasminpatel286,

We practically have the same stats! Good luck to you too! :)

Hello all!

Im new to the thread, and I just wanted to join the conversation, as I have a few questions of my own to ask everyone/anyone.

First, my stats as given by NursingCas:

Cummulative GPA: 3.15

Science GPA: 3.75

Pre-requisites: 3.4

Teas V: 71% (didn't study well and science was tough)

Not the best stats, but I'm hopeful as Ive heard that UTMB looks at the whole person, and not just from an academic point of view. Plus, I think my personal statement is rockin and shows me for me :)

So my questions:

1. Has anyone heard of people getting in without a previous bachelors degree

2. Do you think being a guy hurts my chances? Being that it's a female dominated profession

3. Should I retake the Teas V?

4. Do they take classes from junior college.

5. When will they start interviewing?

i know it's quite a bit to ask, but I appreciate any/all help.

Hi,

I hope I can help in answering some of your questions.

There are a lot of people that are accepted with only an associate (I'm one of them).

The fact that you are a guy will not hurt your chances of getting in. My class has a good amount of males.

And they do take classes from junior college.

Also, there are people in my class that didn't do so great in their TEAS and still got in, so it's ok. Not everyone that gets in has a 4.0 GPA.

Best of luck

So concerning the MyStar account information... Do they ever post pertinent information to the MyStar website? All I see is that my application is complete. Does anyone see anything different?

Also, when do you think they'll start asking for interviews for those of us who applied in Jan?

@spring 16. Thank you very much for all the helpful information! It makes me feel better knowing that I do have a chance of being considered (Although, nothing is written in stone lol) I'm still hoping for the best! :) Im just glad to hear that I can get in with just an associates and with all my credits being taken at a community college.

Do you mind sharing your stats prior to getting accepted into the program?

I appreciate all the good insight :)

Hey helga567,

The complete circle just means that they have received everything that they need from you (TEAS scores, transcript, supplement application, etc...)

I called on Friday. The person I spoke to said they were finishing up summer admissions, and that they would start handing out acceptance letters and interviews for Fall staring mid-late Feb/early March, and that all admissions for this fall would be completed around late April/early May.

Hope this helps! :)

I was accepted for Fall 2014 and here were my stats. I was accepted a week after my interview.

TEAS 78%

Science GPA 4.0

Pre-Req GPA 3.75

No bachelors, lots of job shadowing hours

Got my myStar info today. Where can you see if application is complete because I'm not seeing anything when I log in?

when you log into my star click Campus Solutions, then it opens another page and you click Student Center and it shows you more details of your application

Thank you! :) So glad I went in, because it had the wrong phone number. I don't want to miss my call for an interview!

Those of you who got the early start email for Summer, have y'all heard anything back or gotten invited to/attended interviews yet?
