Hello everyone! I think it's finally time for someone to start a fall thread so here it goes. I am applying to UTHSC and UTMB for fall semester. I gave my teas test today and idk if that score is good enough or not. My GPA is 4.0 and teas individual score is 81. How did everyone else do in their test?

First, thanks for the info. It puts my mind a little as ease as far as the previous bachelors goes.
The fact that me being a male helps is also kind of cool. I'm guessing because of some demographic they need to fill?
Do you think I should retake the TEAS V. I got a composite overall of 71%.
Yeah, I got the GPA's straight from NursingCas.
If you don't mind my asking, what were your friends stats like?
I'm sorry for all the questioning, I just want to get as much info as I possibly can.
This is the ONLY school I'm applying to, and its the only school I want to go to! :)
Thanks again for all the info.

No problem. I am in the same boat as you. UTMB is the only school I applied to, so I'm really hoping I have a chance. One of my friends had a 3.5 GPA and 87 on her TEAS and the other one had a 3.3 overall and 81 on her TEAS, so that gives me some hope. :) I don't know about the 3rd friend. I think her stats were high all around. It really depends on the applicant pool each semester, and I'm praying to God that everything will work out in the end. Remember that your personal statement is very important as well, so it should help you out. I will be graduating with a Bachelors degree in May, but like I said, I don't think they really look at that too much. I wouldn't retake the TEAS for now if I were you because I think they've already received your score and a 71 is really not too bad. They have had people with TEAS scores in the 60s get accepted.
Hello, @Mr.Nurse0913
My stats:
Cummulative GPA: 3.26
Science GPA: 3.4
TEAS: 72%
This is also the only school I applied to. Since my GPAs and TEAS aren't all that great, I am hoping that my personal statement shows what kind of person I am overall. I really have a passion for nursing so I am hoping that it shows through my statement.
I think that you being a guy does not hurt your chance at all. If anything, I think it makes you more of a candidate.
I have been so nervous throughout this entire application process because of my statistics. But it's nice to know that there are other people in a similar situation.
Good luck to you!! :)
I received this today: Thank you for considering the summer enrollment. Due to the high response of applicants that would like to be considered for the limited spaces available for Summer 2015 admissions, we will only be able to accept a small select group. Please note that we can only accept students that will have all prerequisites completed with a grade by May 1, 2015 and meet certain requirements.
If you are not selected for summer, your application will be considered for the fall admissions program. We will begin reviewing fall applications as soon as we complete summer admissions.
We look forward to reviewing your application for fall 2015 and helping you reach your career goals.
I'm so dissappointed, Nursing CAS says my overall GPA is 2.57 but that can't be right.
I was also shocked when I found out my GPA through NCAS. If you take a class over again, UTMB takes the average of the first and last attempt. My GPA without NCAS is 3.46 but since I took classes over, my GPA is now a 3.26

UTMB actually does their own GPA calculation. The GPA you are seeing on NCAS is your NCAS GPA. If you retake a class, UTMB will use the higher grade for your prereq and science GPA. However, your overall is just going to be every class you've ever taken (prereq or not) calculated into one GPA. I called a while ago and that is what they told me.
I hope they start reviewing these Fall apps soon. I am getting anxious over here waiting.

Oh thank goodness! Thank you so much for clarifying! I was under the impression that they would use the NCAS GPA, and I have been freaking out over how low mine is. Although my original GPA isn't all that great, I would much rather have UTMB look at that GPA over the NCAS.
I am also super anxious playing the waiting game. I am just trying to stay positive as best I can. But I wish you good luck!! :)

I replied to the early start email on the 29th, but i haven't received an email like you did today. hopefully they got it, and will still be considered.

@Mr.Nurse0913 I know 3 of my friends who are currently a part of UTMB's BSN program and none of them had a previous Bachelors degree when they applied. I believe the majority of students won't have a previous Bachelors degree. Also, if anything, I think being a guy might increase your chances of getting accepted. For your GPA, they will take every class you have ever taken into consideration (including classes from a community college).
