Has Anyone here recently been accepted into the UTMB BSN program, and if so what was your GPA and prior experience?

Thanks

Go Longhorns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. I will retire in 2009

2. I'm stationed in Galveston, TX

3. Health Science

4. I was an OS in the Navy

5. Long Beach and San Diego

1. So, you have served 17 yrs active duty, so far?

2. You could possibly help Kelly_the_Great w/Galveston info. BTW, I sent you a PM about another member needing Coast Guard info, did you read it?

3. Have you considered an MSN program, if UTMB Galveston as such? I ask because you already have a Bachelors degree. I know UT, at Austin [Go Horns! ...beat USC] has a program that if you have a Bachelors degree you can apply for MSN program. Cool thing is before you complete the MSN program you can sit for the BNE for your nursing license. Again, I don't know if UTMB has same type program?

4. OS? Okay, if you had an MOS, or AOC as in the Army, or USMC, then I'd know your previous Navy military specialty. :uhoh21: Even though the USMC falls under the Dept. of the Navy it seems like the Marine Corps has more similarities with the Army, except for sea going terms. LOL, I'd rather make a Head call, than go to the latrine. :chuckle

5. I was PCS MCAS EL Toro 1985-1988. I loved it out there... alot cleaner beaches than the Gulf Coast, too. :stone

No was just looking into it.

Have thought about relocating in/around the there [galveston] when I finish BSN program.

I live in north east Tx., have a farm and land. But w/ the drought situation, had to sell off most of the livestock and don't see it getting better anytime soon. Considering cutting out while I can still walk away w/ something.

Also, would kind of enjoy not having the hour commute to civilization and all the work that goes in to keeping a place up...:)

However, I also know from living in Fla. once, visiting a place and living in it can be 2 entirely different things...lol That's why I'm asking.

Thanks I have already replied to the other post and I have 17 years in, and plan to apply to UTMB accelrated BSN program before I get out, this program is for people who already have their Bahelor's.

So, dlhall,

Can you tell me how you like living in Galveston?

Thanks...:)[/quoteActually I live in Houston and commute to Galveston eveyday, I enjoy Houston a whole lot, and plan to stay here the rest of my life.

My son is an Army ROTC Cadet at the U of H. I've visited him at the campus twice, and its a very nice place. However, the immediate residential area sux! My son has told me several of his friend's cars have had windows busted... just for backpacks. :angryfire

Have you checked on an accelerated MSN program at UTMB?

BTW, you missed some of my other questions...

Glad your a Cowboys fan. :) I was hoping the Falcons would beat the Panthers, yet guess thats not going to happen. :angryfire Maybe the Eagles will beat the Redskins, otherwise it won't matter if the Cowboys beat the Rams this evening. :crying2:

I sure hope Vince Young has one of his usual spectacular games, instead of like the UT v. A&M game. :uhoh21:

I have also applied to UTMB for Fall 2006. Their lab really impressed me and its not very often that the Dean will sit down with you and answers questions! It felt like a really "open door policy" type of school. If I'm accepted, I'll probably choose the 3 year track because I will be commuting in from Sugar Land, have two kids, and work on the weekends. Good luck to all. :biere:

OS is Operations Specialist. Typically, an OS is responsible to monitor radar consoles, although they have other job qualifications as well. I spent 6 years as an FC (Fire Controlman --not a fireman mind you), so I interfaced with OS's quite a bit. Navy Enlisted ratings can be very confusing to those unfamiliar with them.

I live in galveston and have applied to the BSN program at UTMB...I love living in galveston now, but when I first got here it was definitely a shock to my system! Let me know if you have any question about UTMB...I have been working here on campus for 5 years now so I know a little bit about it.
