UTHSCSA - UT Health Science Center at San Antonio

Published

I applied for the Fall 2008 Accelerated BSN program and am very excited to have an interview on April 10 - the letter just came in the mail today! Anyway, I wasn't able to find any recent threads for applicants applying for this year so wanted to see if there were any applicants out there.

I'm interested to hear from any current or former students in the program. Is this a good program? What are some of the pros and cons?

I currently live in Houston and prefer to stay if I am accepted to any of the 3 nursing schools here, but I would certainly not hesitate to relocate to SA for nursing school.

*^//////////////^*

THANK YOU!!!!

I hope I will survive these following 2 years and probably back to Houston...

Anyone from Houston?

Have you look on the housing yet?? This is my biggest problem so far though... >!!!

hello everyone!! I've been reading this thread for some time now (just never posted :sofahider)...AND....I received my acceptance letter today too and i am soo haaappy! :anpom: I think I've called everyone on my phone atleast twice to gush about how happy i am..now i'm off to post on myspace and facebook. oh yeah sooo does anyone know anything about the NURS 3209 Intro to Professional Nursing class that we're supposed to take? I'm guessing it's something that has to be done before school starts in the fall?

thanks and congrats to everyone that got accepted!!

just a thought...i don't think in all my life i have ever been soo excited to actually go to school as I am right now.

About the nursing course, we take that during the Fall semester. I haven't heard anything about needing to take it during the summer. In fact, I think that's the course that we can choose to take as a lecture or online.

In fact, here's the schedule for the Fall:

As you can see, there are two sections for NURS 3209 and according to papers that came with our acceptance letter, one is a lecture and one is online. You can check off which one you prefer to take. By the way, we don't get to choose the times for our classes. We are automatically registered based on whatever the nursing school decides. Just a heads up...

Awesome. Thanks pixie.

I think I can sleep now....or maybe I'll look for an apartment. :typing

I am starting the generic track...I still have chemistry 2 to take this summer...WHICH is becoming a@%#% to get into....but it will be done...

Congrats everyone who was accepted! That is wonderful news.

So, did anyone from here NOT get accepted? Seems like we've gotten all positive responses.

Yay for nursing school!

I also applied Generic program..

And only left A&PII for this Spring.. Then, finished all the pre-requiredments///

Actually, I'm debating whether move to San Antonio this Fall or not...

Well you should decide fast. There are many many people who would love to have your spot.

So this summer I guess we also have to get the CPR certification. I had the hepatitis immunizations but since its been almost 8 years, I had to get a blood titer - $100 . oh well.

So I'm redcross certified, is that good enough? If you haven't gotten the Hep B series started yet you won't get to participate in clinicals this fall and I know that's going to be held against you. I think once you have it, it's good for life right? Mine was 3 or 4 years ago.

I called the school about that and they did say it should be okay but that I should get a blood titer and my results said i still had immunity even after 8 years. :D Yeah a friend of mine was red crossed certified and it was fine for nursing school at SAC.
