UTHSCSA Traditional BSN Application Fall 15

Published

Hey guys!

So the application to start in the Fall of 2015 is due on February 1st. Really, that is right around the corner if you think about it!

Let this thread be dedicated to all hopefuls!

I still have to take the Teas V, but I did buy the study guide with 2 tests so hopefully that helps. My cumulative GPA will be 3.2ish and my pre-req GPA will be close to 4.0. I'm extremely anxious about getting in that is for sure!

Does anyone know how long they last for? I've got mine in the last 5 years.

I just got out of the military as a lab tech so I already have hep b

Lucky! Yea I did the twinrix (the accelertaed hep b shot) because the regular one takes too long and it was so expensive! I have a friend already in the program and she said that the immunizations are what takes the longest so to get a head start on them, because they won't even let you register for classes if you dont have all your immunizations completed.

Dang thats crazy! Did your insurance not cover it?

I got my hep B series when I was a baby. I have my immunization record ready to go, just need that acceptance letter to get things moving

Well I just switched insurances and unfortunatly it did not cover it! And I got mine when I was baby too but if your not still immune to it after taking the hep b titer I am pretty sure you have to get it again! :(

I am glad that I have not received an email yet... Never thought I would say that about this process :) My last name begins with C. I had to get my Hep B series again too. I just need the third shot now. I am getting even more nervous, but thankful I made it out of the this round so far!!

OMG me too! I checked this thread this morning before I checked my email and I like Oh please Jesus don't make me have an email from uthsc hahah

I think you should be good! I could be wrong but from what I was told from people in the program is you can take a titer test to see if your still immune to hep b if you got the shot when you were a baby or whenever. If your test comes back and your not immune then you have to get the hep b series again (I recommened the twinrix because I got the whole series done in a month because its the accelerated version) and then you have to have the titer test done again to make sure your immune. And from what I was told the titer tests are pretty expensive so I just went ahead and got the series and im doing the titer test next month.

I think ill go to that lab tests now site and make an appointment to get a titer done

Oh I just remembered I got a titer done last year before my hospital orientation for my job!

If you go to UTHSCSA School of Nursing website and go to the student health center link they have a list of all the immunizations you need and it makes it pretty easy! I know they're very strict about the immunizations so its good to get a head start on them. Even though they haven't sent out the acceptance emails yet :p

Just looked at it !

I wonder if they're doing rejection emails in alphabetical last-name order. If that's the case, then I imagine you, ratlady, and jmora are all in the clear because that'd mean that today they got to at least M (from that lady in my class).

I'm regretting getting married right about now!!! My last name starts with a T!!! My maiden name starts with a C :( lol jk I love my husband but really now I'm going to be worried all day tomorrow :sniff:

Hurray! Got through today without a nasty gram from the school :D
