UTHSCSA Traditional BSN Application Fall 14

Published

Hello! So I had seen threads started for past classes and didn't see one yet for the Fall of 2014 class, so I figured I would start one. So let me introduce myself. My name is Will Long, I am a 27 years old male and I am applying for UTHSCSA's Traditional BSN program for the Fall of 2014. I have started my application and have signed up to take the TEAS test next Friday. I am pretty excited about finally being able to apply after finishing up all the pre-reqs. Anyways I was hoping this thread could be used a source of information and a place to ask each other questions throughout the application process. Anybody else out there applying? Have you already taken your TEAS test?

I had some questions on whether or not the class I was taking was the correct one too and I just emailed the admissions office and asked and they were able to pull up the school I am at and tell me exactly what class to take.

The site shows me what classes to take, but I still have no idea what they consider as the math and science prereq. For UTHSC houston, it's just A&P I and II, Chem I, and Microbiology. For others, it includes, Growth and Development and Statistics. I can't seem to find where it specifies this on their website.

Oh and does anyone know if Calculus I is considered a higher math course other than algebra? It saids College Algebra or higher and I've only taken Calc I and II, and statistics.

Hello everyone! I just finished my app on nursingcas, but I am a little worried that it won't get to UTHSCSA in time! Nursingcas has all of my transcripts, i just paid for it today! Am i going to be okay?! Does it just have to be submitted on nursingcas before the deadline?

As long as you send everything in to NursingCAS and it's submitted on time, you are clear.

WlongTX, how long did it take you to hear back when you emailed them?

nkinjumpa, I see what you are saying. It says this under the admission page for the traditional BSN program, "Complete at least 51 of the required 60 semester course hours of prerequisite courses at the time of application. For a list of required courses, click here. The remaining 9 semester credit hours in the areas of art, social science, and humanities can be completed after deadline and prior to the first day of orientation (example: Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, History)." So you have to have Math(college algebra or higher, I would imagine your Calculus class would apply to this one), Statistics, A&P 1&2 w/lab, Microbiology w/lab, Chem 1&2, and Nutrition done. This adds up to 27 hours, so on top of your math and sciences you have to have another 24 hours of classes done before you can apply. I emailed *****, the Admissions Representative, directly and she got back with me that same day. I will message you her email.

is the deadline by midnight tonight (friday) or will it be until midnight saturday night? im still waiting for my transcripts to get to nursingcas and im a bit worried it might not make it by today

Thanks so much!!! I feel a lot better now. I emailed them yesterday and they got back to me this morning. She very politely told me that Calculus does count and the courses involved in the math and gpa calculations consist of:

College math, Statistics, A&P I,II, Chemistry I,II, Microbiology, Nutritions.

She also mentioned that my teas has already been received, NursingCAS has received and evaluated my transcripts, my application is sent, and now I wait :)

nm1900, I don't know if it is midnight tonight or tomorrow night. I would call the admissions office in the morning and NursingCAS, they might have it, just not updated the site.

Awesome!!! I know the feeling, I was very relieved after everything was in place! I hate this waiting game though, lol. Just an opportunity to work on my patience!

Hello all! I submitted my application on Jan 21st, and just got emailed about my application from NursingCAS with my calculated GPA, etc. I have finished all of my pre-course work and am just waiting for now... =) Saw the forum and wanted to give a shout out to my possible future classmates.
