Hello! So I had seen threads started for past classes and didn't see one yet for the Fall of 2014 class, so I figured I would start one. So let me introduce myself. My name is Will Long, I am a 27 years old male and I am applying for UTHSCSA's Traditional BSN program for the Fall of 2014. I have started my application and have signed up to take the TEAS test next Friday. I am pretty excited about finally being able to apply after finishing up all the pre-reqs. Anyways I was hoping this thread could be used a source of information and a place to ask each other questions throughout the application process. Anybody else out there applying? Have you already taken your TEAS test?

lol nkinjumpa, that is too funny, though I have met one of the admissions representatives and she definitely does not appear to be soulless. I haven't heard if I will even be sent an admissions packet as of yet, so I'm just keeping busy in the meantime. I'll be sure to post as soon as I hear something. I love this forum so we can all be informed of any information!
Omg I'm stalking you guys so hard right now. I had joined this schools group, and I asked one of the lead students this question in E-mail. Let me show you.
From ME: Hi, I am a lurker on the FB group for the nursing school. I am a member of [COLOR=#222222]allnurses.com
I'm doing my prereqs now in hopes of being able to start in 2015.
I'm sure you're familiar with how nerve wracking it is about trying to get accepted into a nursing program...
I just want to know if you think I'd get accepted... I'm coming out of the army, and I will be applying with a 3.13 cumulative GPA and a 3.3 math science GPA. I've yet to take the teas but I know I'll study my butt off for it.
I already have an AS of health sciences and I'll be going in with 5 years experience as a lab tech and I will also have the IBCLC credential of lactation consultants.
So are you in the ABSN? Or tradtional? I'm just trying to get into traditional.
Sorry if its weird to e-mail you... I was looking for a group about people trying to get into that nursing school and I found this one.
From HER:
Your qualifications look solid. It seems like you would be a great applicant. I can't tell you for sure or not if you would get accepted but I think you would have a very high chance!
When I applied I had a 2.9 overall GPA, with a 3.5 in the pre reqs. I had my BS before I started school here. I had my CNA but not really any work experience besides a few hours of volunteering. I had letters of rec from a nurse, a doctor, and a business woman. So if you compare our applications I'm betting yours would look better than mine did, which is awesome!
Personally, the TEAs was not a very difficult for me, I made a really high score and I only took the practice tests offered through ATI I believe.
I'd recommend, if you haven't already, to talk to one of the admissions staff and they can give you more information.
I hope this helped, and I bet I'll be seeing your face in the next year!
Hope thats inspiring to someone!
Hi guys,
I have been following this thread for a while now. I too, applied for the Fall 2014 and the last e-mail I received is that they'll notify me if I got accepted before the 27th! I am freaking out really bad. I keep on checking my mail every day. I've read some of the people will be receiving their supplemental application in the mail? Congrats people! As for me, I'm starting to lose hope that I won't be accepted at all.
Hey Leixa,
Don't lose hope! The supplemental applications are supposed to start going out on the 28th. Some of us have received emails saying that they would receive their supplemental application on the 28th and some of us are waiting anxiously on that email. Keep your hopes up. We should all know something by the end of the week for sure (fingers crossed).
That's great acuriale! Let's keep those emails coming! I still have yet to receive mine, but I know it'll be here before I know it. I'm trying to enjoy the moment... it's very exciting to hear news. Hopefully it will be good news for all of us. Last wish of luck before we all start getting notification!

yup, my inbox is still empty. Completey void, just like I imagine the admissions counsel's souls to be.
