UTHSCSA Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I'm considering going to nursing school through the Baptist Health System in San Antonio or UTHSCSA. Most people I get advice from tell me hands down to go for UTHSCSA. I would like to hear from more of you who are currently enrolled or have gone through the nursing school program at either one of these locations in San Antonio. What did you like about the teachers, faculty, the content you were learning, etc. What were your hours like at school and if you had kids, how did you manage your time.

I am still a pre-nursing student and have one more semester in Spring of 2014 to complete before I can apply. I am very excited and just want to know more information. Also, a close family friend is attending nursing school at Wayland Baptist and informed me that their nursing program is shutting down. Is there any truth to this?

To pass the time I'm working, cleaning/organizing the garage (which is a challenge in itself) and getting some early studying done... Like reading up on some pathophysiology and pharmacology.

That's a GREAT idea!

Have you guys had any luck with NursingCas? I'm still waiting for them to verify my transcripts...

Hi! I'm attempting to apply for Spring 2016, but my classes for the prerequisites are just ending. I know that I can probably get my transcripts to Nursing CAS before Aug 1, but do they need to be verified and gpas calculated before August 1? I'm so worried because I read you guys are having issues and its taking a while. Did you use transcript matching forms at all? I'm so scared that I will have everything in but still won't be accepted because of Nursing CAS taking too long. Thanks in advance for your responses!

I hope, and from what I've read as long as everything is in before the deadline (August 1) we should be okay. I really hope so, because I submitted my application back in May on the 23rd, I also requested for my transcripts to be sent the day before that, and by the end of June they still weren't showing up as arrived so I reordered a transcript, had it sent to me and then express mailed it to NurisngCas, it showed up as arrived a week later. I'm still waiting for them to be verified, and at this rate I don't know if it'll be done before the deadline.

I don't think there were any kinds of forms we could use for transcript matching. I just printed my unofficial transcript and entered everything into the transcript entry area on the application.

"Please note: NursingCAS will continue to process any materials that come in and will make them available to your designated programs. So as long as you have submitted your application by their deadline then your transcripts with your final grades will be available to their admissions/nursing staff as soon as they are processed."

Whoop!! Found it, so as long as everything is in before deadline you're good to go.

Oh okay! I really hope that UTHSCSA follows that because I know it is up to the school to actually look at it. When you got the transcripts mailed to you did you just create a new label to make it go to Nursing CAS? The transcripts are supposed to be sent from the school, that's why I wasn't going to do that, but the school is taking so long. I would rather have it sent to me so I could express mail it though.

The transcript is sent from the school; you'll receive the envelope, it'll have a seal on the opening to prove that it hasn't been opened or tampered with. The address on the envelope will prove that it is from the school, it'll say official transcript on it, and of course it'll have all your information. You take it to any place where you can package and have something shipped, Fedex or USPS, they'll put it in a cardboard envelope that they use to send letters and other kinds of documents, express mail cost me like $25 and it arrived and was signed for by the NursingCas location in less than 24 hours.

Wow, that is awesome, I am seriously considering doing that then. I may send the transcripts directly from the school, but if they aren't into Nursing CAS a week before the deadline I'll try that for sure. Thanks so much! I'm so anxious and worried about everything!

No problem! My transcripts from alamo colleges were printed and sent May 22, but by June 24 they still hadn't arrived so I took care of it myself.

St. Philip's had mine sent out in good time. They took about 4 days to arrive but are still verifying. I thought that they had to just be postmarked by July 31 to be accepted if that helps at all. You should call and ask the school because they might work with you.

Oh, I hope mine sends it out that fast. I was wondering what the time frame was like on that, thanks! Yeah, I'm not totally sure because once Nursing CAS has it, its on them to verify and calculate, we can't control how fast they do that. I hope the school is understanding of that as long as we have our stuff turned in on our part on time.
