UTHSCSA Spring 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I know it's a little early, as applications are due until July 7, 2011, but I'm excited already and want to hear from others applying for the Spring 2012 semester. Anyone submit their application yet or in the process of submitting?

Hey all! Just wanted to join the rest of you in posting. It will be fun to follow - esp. over the next few months as we progress through the application process. I sent in my application today and I am waiting for my transcripts to be sent into NursingCAS :) I am so excited and can't wait to find out if we are going to get an invite or not! I know that the time is going to fly by!

Just got my TEAS study manual and will be hitting it pretty hard for the next few weeks - until summer classes start!

Good luck everyone!

:anpom:

I was under the impression that I couldn't hit submit until NursingCAS received my transcripts? I'm just asking because I was going to wait before submitting the actual application but if it's this way then I can hit submit sooner!

And it's good to see someone new post as well. Nice to see other people in the process. :)

Just saw this:

Q: Can I e-submit my application before my transcripts are received by NursingCAS?

A: Yes. Once you have successfully filled out your application, you can e-submit it to NursingCAS at any time.

I took the first test in the book to get some idea about how much I know and need to study.

71%

Time to get my butt in gear and start studying.

Youresocurious - glad that you found that info and now you don't have to worry about waiting for your transcripts to get there first. It felt so good to finally hit send yesterday. I'm sure you had the same feeling today! :)

aNerd - I feel you! I scanned through the book last night and thought to myself - oh my, I don't remember some of this stuff. :uhoh3: "Time to get my butt in gear and start studying." - sounds about right for me too! LOL

Have an awesome day! I'm gonna hit the book! (sounds weird not to say books)

It was exciting and nerve-wrecking to hit submit! lol I'm glad you posted or else I would have kept waiting until they arrived before doing much of anything else so thank you very much.

TEAS seems to be the only assignment on my mind currently.

I had a question that maybe someone could answer. As far as the essay question, where does that come from? On the NursingCAS website the closest thing to that is the Personal Statement which is not marked as required. Does the essay come later down the line or is that it??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you go under personal statement, it asks something like why have you chosen nursing as a career. This is what I think other's refer to as the essay. Eventhough it is not marked required, if you look below the question itself it says "(required)." It also states," You can NOT make any edits to your Personal Statement after you have e-submitted your completed application to NursingCAS."

I hope all of this info has helped. I'm tired and ready for bed-good night!

Ok, just to double check, I called UTHSCSA and was informed that the personal statement is NOT the essay.

FYI: If you click on anything on NursingCAS it'll let you know which portions are required within that section but if it's not marked in red in the main outline then it's not required for your school.

youresocurious - now you got me curious. :) LOL

Did they say if there was an essay? 'Cause I was under the impression that there wasn't one - just the question on the application. (Impression based on info on the application and from their website - see below)

Admission Decisions are Based On:

  • Prerequisite GPA (40%)
  • TEAs Cumulative Score (59%)
  • Application Questions (1%)

Have you attended an open house yet?? I'll be at the next open house, so I'll hopefully get a better understanding of everything then. :)

She said there was an essay but it'd come later down the line.

I did attend an open house in March of this year.

I looked on their website as well and don't see any detailed information about it. Regardless I'm sure it'd be good to fill out the Personal Statement in the meantime just in case.

Also reading on forum on recent essay related topics it sounds like it's multiple questions as people keep saying "essays"?? Also the part you quoted says Application Questions. Plural.

Ahh, the application process is nerve-wrecking. I will call again tomorrow to double check.

Alright, well I doubled checked and below is the response I received:

The essay portion will be on the supplemental application that you will receive later. You do not fill out the personal statement because it is not the essay portion of the application.
