Some students do (less than half), some wear the t-shirts sold during orientation, there were no specific shoes for skills as long as they were closed and none of those clogs with holes in them. I would still ask bc it may have changed on the shoes...

Stethoscopes? Why has nobody told me I need that? =X What else do I need, aside from books?

I just called UTSA asking why they haven't processed my cancellation of financial aid there, since I filed the paperwork in November and they said it'd only take a week.

They were nice enough to tell me that the person in charge of processing the paperwork quit a long time ago and they haven't gotten around to hiring someone to do it <.>

The guy I talked to said he'd process it himself, but it'll take a week :angryfire

Yes, you also need a penlight :-) later in the semester you may need bandage scissors for wound care during your clinical rotation, not everyone gets to do it outside of skills lab but it's good to have and not that expensive.

Calinative, were you able to find your books w/ the exact edition and updated versions on Amazon? I only found 4 that matched exactly. I'm not sure I want to pay for all those new books from the bookstore. =)

Leslie Joy... I found most that matched closely to the discription and then i checked the list when i got them with the page numbers and stuff from the recommened readings from the orientation packet. Some things did not match EXACTLY as the description but when i got them they were the ones specified. I think there might be some errors. I took my chances. The one with the corrected cd did not specify that it was corrected but it was the newest edition. there were a couple that i could not find on amazon at all so i ordered online through the bookstore and got them used. I hope that helps. I pressed my luck and I think it is going to work out. Happy Hunting!

Hi guys,

Do I need to dress up formally for the orientation? Also, when it says in the orientation packet, it says that "skill labs are assigned by lab cordinators" what does it mean by that? please let me know. Thanks for all the replies.

Hey all, been a while since anyone has posted (including me) but just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year since this coming year is bringing about the start of it all! Can't wait to see everyone next week. Are we going to try and meet up at the orientation? I'll be the one with the 96-ounce cup of coffee! Golden, skill labs will be assigned to us during orientation, meaning you won't know what time your lab is until they tell you next week. See you all soon...

Question - So previous posts have said that we probably won't use most of the books. I was wondering which books were needed, and which aren't.

Im feeling anxious about orientation!

This may be a little late but where can i find a complete list of all the books we need?

And where do i park for orientation???

I found my book list on the inside.uthscsa.edu site wher you register for classes..however cyclical has a pretty extensive list posted on the previous post.

The orientation packet that they emailed to us a while back said that we should obtain our parking passes early and didn't say anything about them sending us one so I am planning on having to park in Zone 5 . If you don't have a pass I think you can just park in the visitors until you get your pass.

Does any one know of a good place to get scrubs that are fairly priced? I really wanted to find some of those more modern looking scrub pants that were kinda flared at the bottom. I saw some girl wearing some and I thought they looked cute.
