UTHSCSA May 2011

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I've been watching all the UTHSCSA posts for a while waiting for someone to start one up for the May 2011 accelerated program, and finally decided to take the initiative and see if there is anyone else out there that will be or hope to be attending the program.

Has anyone taken the TEAS downtown at UTSA and gotten their scores back? Mine are still blocked and I want to know how I did... :(

Also, anyone else hear back yet? I'd love to find out who my future classmates are!!

Hi Paige,

I don't have a copy of the one that was emailed but this is a break down provided by the school that has misc. costs factored in like cost of living, extra supplies, etc. When I attended the Open House, Mr. ******* told us that cost of tuition and books alone was around $17,000 for the program. My estimate is that it will probably be a little more expensive than that now since we are required to purchase a computer.

So to calculate estimated cost of attendance, you would take the cost of 12 months plus 3 months (our program being 15 months total) and you end up with about $46,042 for a conservative estimate of the program's cost, factoring in all living expenses because they have pretty much said it would be entirely too difficult to work during the accelerated program.

I am assuming we have to fill out a FAFSA for both 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 because our program technically starts in the 2010-2011 school year and lasts the duration of 2011-2012.

Paige, I emailed you the tuition estimate, let me know if you didnt get it.

Sorry for the thread not being so active lately, personally I have been busy with work (also at Methodist!!) and making sure I got my pre-reqs all lined up at SAC. Anyone else taking any classes?? I'm taking Chem 2 on W nights with the lab on M.

I'm in my third semester and the highest our tuition has ever been was 2900, which was 1st semester. There should be absolutely no reason for you to have to purchase a computer through the school. Software is software and can be installed on any computer, provided it meets specs/OS requirements.

We don't have to deal with this ebook nonsense, but I imagine that you would save a lot more money buying used/previous edition/international edition versions. To add to that, you could live without a majority of the textbooks.

I agree that working and trying to do the accelerated program is probably a good way to set yourself up for failure. I'm in the generic track and I can't imagine going any faster than we do and feeling "comfortable" that I have had time to really absorb and learn what I need to know.

Yes im taking 2 online courses Texas govt and history!

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful information ya'll have sent me!! That cost estimate was really helpful. Now I just need to figure out the whole parking thing, from what I've heard there's not enough parking for everyone :/ Good luck to everybody with getting all the paperwork and things taken care of before the program starts, seems like as soon as I take care of one thing, something else comes up that I need to send in or do. Seems like May is just around the corner, can't wait!

Has anyone received their blue clearance card from their background check? If so, when did you get your fingerprints done??

Has anyone heard back about the waitlist letters yet?

Hello everyone! January has been pretty busy! I am also finishing up pre-reqs at SAC: statistics and psychology. No fun!! I spent 4 years trying to avoid statistics and it still caught up with me! lol

Mel: I had my fingerprints done on 1/11 and haven't heard anything just yet. Hopefully I hear something by the end of this week or next week. If not, I'm going to freak out. ha ha!

got mine done end of dec and still haven't heard anything back yet either... i don't know if we are required to get the computers or not or what they have on them. we will find all that out at orientation though. i went to hand in my insurance paperwork and immunization form and saw a nursing student and she said that in regards to scrubs- we buy them from the school and to wait until orientation. also we only wear them for clinicals not lectures.

anybody having trouble taking the hipaa certification? It keeps freezing up my computer :(

monica, i actually didnt have a problem and completed it yesterday. maybe talk to IT?

Hi everyone! I just joined and will be attending this summer. I look forward to meeting all you guys! I'm a little confused about the parking. When are we allowed to purchase permits?
