Hey guys!

Anyone else here applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Nursing Program? I am currently a student at Texas State University and will be applying for the fall semester! The application deadline is quickly approaching, I'm super nervous!!

My stats are:

Math/Science GPA: 3.3

Overall GPA: 3.7

Overall TEAS: 90.7

Let me know your stats!

Hi, future nursing students! I'm a nursing student at UTHSCSA in my first semester right now. I was in your shoes last summer. Our deadline for the application was Aug 1st, and they told us that it would be a month AFTER the deadline before they notified anyone of their status. In fact it was an agonizing 6 weeks. They told a lot of people "no" first, and the "yeses" came after. I found out 9/19/18. All of the stats I saw were competitive, based on the average scores admitted for the last year. I did do A LOT of volunteer work, and though most of my scores were good (average by their standards), my math was low because of failing grade many years ago. They average all the math. :( That was my main stressor at the time.

Btw, YES, go ahead and start your Hep B series, so you won't be stressed about it later. They will put a hold on your registration for most of those immunizations. They are very specific and able to answer questions about it when it gets closer to the due date (about a month after they notify if you are accepted.)

ANYWAY, keep in touch with each other. Our nursing cohort is close, and many of us first met on allnurses and then started a facebook page for just our group. That group is utilized by your UTHealth mentors and classmates in the 6th-8th semesters, all here to help you and answer your questions, help you through registration. Keep the hope! I can't wait to meet you all! And I'm happy to answer questions.

Thank you so much for your comment!! Appreciate you being here to help us while we wait out these next couple of months ?

How are your classes going so far this semester? Have your clinicals started yet? I do have one question about the admissions process - Did you have to do an interview? If so, what kind of questions should we expect to be asked?

I got my hep B series when I was a baby... am I missing something? ? Is it something that has to be done twice?

From what I've read on last year's applicant forum (correct me if i'm wrong), I think we have to get Hep B titers done first and if they come back "immune" we're in the clear. If we're not immune, then we'll have to do the vaccination series again.

Hey ya'll! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing!

Has anyone received any updates from the school of nursing about interviews or when we might find out if we got in? Almost done with this month of February, which means we're getting closer to the decision date (slowly but surely)! I'm still checking this blog everyday, so if anyone has any questions, post 'em and we can try to help each other out! ?

Haven't gotten anything yet on my end!

Did anyone apply to any other schools like UIW, BSHP, or SAC?

Hey all!

This just popped into my head, so I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Should we wait to fill out FAFSA until we know for sure that we got in? If not, should we list UTHSCSA as our school on the app?

I put all the schools I applied to on mine!

Hi everyone!

I've been lurking on this forum since January and thought I would finally chime in now that we're finally in March. I just got off the phone with the school and they said that decisions should be sent out in Mid April and like others have previously mentioned, this is the first semester that UTHSCSA will be holistically reviewing applications. The activities sheet and the essay will make up 40% of our application and the other 60% will be our math/science & cumulative GPA as well as our TEAS score. If we pass the first round of applications, we will be sent a link to have an interview where they will give us a series of questions and we will have to record ourselves answering the questions. Afterwards, there will be a writing sample prompt that we will have to answer submit along with our recorded interview for the second round.

Thank for the info! Is that supposed to be a live interview?

Hi there! They said we would have to record our responses to the questions and submit the recording so I don't think it will be a live interview! They will just review our recorded videos after we submit them! This actually makes me more nervous than an actual in person interview for some reason ??

Awesome!! Thank you for calling the school, so glad we got some more info about it. Mid-april for decisions though...I feel like that's still so far away ?
